That’s pretty cool! I like build vids a lot. This one looks specifically geared to off-road and that’s not what drew me to the pic. I’m a weirdo that like cars with funny proportions/looks. I could imagine cutting away sheet metal and making some stupid huge wheels fit in there for no good reason other than look. You couldn’t keep the profile and have adequate suspension, so it would have to ride on stiffer suspension, making it rather useless but to mess around with in some light dirt/mud or something. Of course you’d have to put a very powerful rotary in there to complete the mess, but it would be a ride.

You think the OP image is AI? How do you figure? (Or maybe my brain just put too much emphasas on the word “without” and you aren’t saying the OP image is AI.)

I wasn’t implying the image was made with AI. I was telling people they can learn to do this without using AI. I assume this image was made with photoshop, but people who had never seen these before would probably assume it’s AI.

        Penny Racers were the shit.

I still have the one I got in probably '82/83. Black semi tractor with a rotating spoiler instead of a trailer and that’s where you could clip a penny to make it do tricks. That thing got a lifetime of use and abuse and it still works great.

I always thought they were adorable. They did a great job making recognizable vehicles all dinky.

All of the poor front visibility with none of the “I actually need a truck” use cases

You’re not wrong, but there is nothing like a truck bed. Of any size. It is so friggin practical, speaking as a man that has had access to pickup trucks but has only owned 5 cars as daily drivers…trying to finagle some big piece of shit into the cars for transport sucks. Especially anything of size that might not fit through the puny, stupid doors.

Yes, that fold-down backseat helps a lot with long, narrow items. But it’s still hardly a substitute for a truck bed.

I would love a machine like this, but without the lift & massive wheels. Seems unnecessary.

A roof rack and straps. For those rare occasions. For all other times youre just burning fuel to haul around tons of unnecessary weight and endanger pedestrians more.

I used to know someone who drove one almost like this. It was a RAV4 though. He was a swole short stack with bouncy blond curls who was always laughing and flirting and the car fit his personality to a T.

Where’s that bottom image from? I can’t place it, but if I was a betting man I’d say that’s from the flash-forward in the finale of the penultimate season of LOST, when the doctor is back in the real world, popping pills and swigging Jack Daniels.

No, only Reddit is allowed to be funny enough to repost, despite this entire ecosystem existing in spite of it.
