  • It always makes me wonder what delicious flavors nature has provided that I’m missing out on. Just like Banana’s in the states, we have a “main” variety of apple which is “Red Delicious” (it’s just a name, not delicious). This abomination is the prettiest picturesque apple you’ve ever seen, but it tastes like cardboard compared to any other apple species. I wish we still had access to all the different varieties of banana’s that used to be around but guess we’ve fucked that one up.

  • TIL- Muliebrity (Muliebrity means womanly nature or qualities, or the condition of being a woman. It comes from Latin muliēbris, derived from mulier, meaning woman)

Feel about the same as your case. Every one has preferred pronouns, I like to point out to conservative relatives that “sir” and “ma’am” is just another form that they learned growing up for certain individuals. It’s just basic manners.

  • Holy shit, a true clown-troll account made specifically because of the results of a political election. Get a fucking life or even just a singular hobby to better waste your time with.

The working class didn’t come out in droves, it was the same fucking numbers. Republicans are taught at a very young age it was their duty to vote, it’s ingrained in a lot of the family structure while the left/progressive stems more from active engagement and a distrust in the political system.

If you think Biden stepped down just because he was “too old”, you slept through the past year. It was a valid concern and still is as the sitting administration, it’s even more concerning we’re about to have the oldest elected person in history in fucking 2024.

Economics hardship was already here, that’s probably what pissed me off the greatest about this last election cycle. “They’re going to come after us if you don’t vote!” removed, hey’ve been coming for us, everyone is just pretending it’s important now.

  • Is there something I said that’s confusing to you? Do I need to repeat it in different words for you to be able to carry on a conversation? Are you legitimately confused and can’t follow along or just trolling? You definitely have a different conversation style (I’m guessing young and haven’t engaged in long-form discussion before, maybe even strictly on mobile so it’s hard for you to type at length).

If you really don’t understand and you aren’t just being a dick I’ll actually reply but you just seem hostile as fuck.

  • This is like gameplay analysis mode atm, the lessons need to be learned and strategies need to be changed.

I’m actually thinking we might need to be throwing dignity out the window. It’s just being used as traditionalism to keep the status quo much like we’ve seen with feudalism. A progressive movement should’ve been continued after the DNC chicanery in 2016, dignity be damned. I’ve watched Bernie bend the knee to a left-wing party that’s been completely overtaken by big interests, if they didn’t play fair he shouldn’t have endorsed and went back independent immediately (it’s all speculative though).

I do fear that jumping through too many hoops will land the democrats back to square one and they’ll just continue the same path (Desi Lydic did a good bit on the daily show about the media’s many conflicting critiques).

Is there a name for this weird grouping some of you are using to cope? “‘You’ fuckers” “‘They’ are going to see now”, like it’s not xenophobia, it’s not particularly racism, but definitely feels like a flavor of it. It’s like a fan upset their team lost and is blaming the crowd, but feels more nefarious.

  • I don’t know, I try to be a little more optimistic. over 250million eligible voters, only 70million voted for Trump. That’s less than a 1/3 and could be lower if you included the entire population. People will spend extra time to pursue things that will benefit them directly, there just needs to be better communication about the good things that will benefit them for their time, not the things to be fearful of because people will tune that out (as shown by the voter turnout).

Bernie Sanders set records for both 2016 and 2020.

The number of Democratic voters is reported to be around 49 million. (link) As of 9 a.m., Vice President Kamala Harris had 66.5 million votes to Trump’s 71.56 million. (link)

Plenty of the left showed up, in 2020 biden got 81,283,501 in the popular vote. That’s near 15 million disenchanted voters who didn’t return to the polls for this administration. But let’s blame the 15 million people, surely they must all be wrong and not the DNC’s strategy or anything.

  • I just don’t get why they never learn. I thought you were saying this is spoofed and the real cover was in that article…but nope that’s the really real image. The right LOVES images like this, it does nothing to inform the base besides giving a “cool counter that he’s beating”. Show pictures of him going down on the mic on stage, show pictures of how old and fragile he is, anything but the stupid mugshot/he’s a bad guy motif that’s done nothing for the past year.

  • Geez. that timezone separation is more fucked than I realized lol. I’ve lived in different time zones but always near the center of it and I didn’t know there was such awful cut offs that zigzag through states like that. Sucks that user stayed hostile though, not sure if they just want to argue about everything timezone related or just too embarrassed to gracefully exit.

  • You’re just like almost there, that graph isn’t about lengths of days. It’s an arbitrary representation of what someone would consider a “normal” time for the sun to set and rise. The gradient in colors is because of the shape of the earth, the blocky lines are probably the cut off counties/states that follow different timezones (would need to verify source for that though). I’ve gotta split but hopefully someone can explain it better in the mean time if you have more questions.
