Some helpful caption/subtitles is for videos which don’t have dialogue but add information to what’s going on. One example is primitive technology but there are plenty of other skill presentations/tutorials where the how and why is spelled out in the subtitles while the actual audio is just peaceful melodies to enjoy watching someone work too.

I’m actually thinking we might need to be throwing dignity out the window. It’s just being used as traditionalism to keep the status quo much like we’ve seen with feudalism. A progressive movement should’ve been continued after the DNC chicanery in 2016, dignity be damned. I’ve watched Bernie bend the knee to a left-wing party that’s been completely overtaken by big interests, if they didn’t play fair he shouldn’t have endorsed and went back independent immediately (it’s all speculative though).
I do fear that jumping through too many hoops will land the democrats back to square one and they’ll just continue the same path (Desi Lydic did a good bit on the daily show about the media’s many conflicting critiques).

I don’t know, I try to be a little more optimistic. over 250million eligible voters, only 70million voted for Trump. That’s less than a 1/3 and could be lower if you included the entire population. People will spend extra time to pursue things that will benefit them directly, there just needs to be better communication about the good things that will benefit them for their time, not the things to be fearful of because people will tune that out (as shown by the voter turnout).

Plenty of the left showed up, in 2020 biden got 81,283,501 in the popular vote. That’s near 15 million disenchanted voters who didn’t return to the polls for this administration. But let’s blame the 15 million people, surely they must all be wrong and not the DNC’s strategy or anything.

I’ve lived in different time zones but always near the center of it and I didn’t know there was such awful cut offs that zigzag through states like that. You’re just like almost there, that graph isn’t about lengths of days. It’s an arbitrary representation of what someone would consider a “normal” time for the sun to set and rise. The gradient in colors is because of the shape of the earth, the blocky lines are probably the cut off counties/states that follow different timezones (would need to verify source for that though). I’ve gotta split but hopefully someone can explain it better in the mean time if you have more questions.

You do realize how just morally corrupt and insane that logic is right? We spend trillions as a country, you’re upset that immigrants might get something when our veterans program is still lacking. You are fighting over crumbs and upset at other crumb eaters instead of the elite being the ones only giving out crumbs. There are valid arguments and suggested tactics to help BOOST the economy with programs that can help veterans, immigrants, and includes social safety nets for all people. The distraction that “They’re Stealing Your Crumbs!tm” helps stop any progress and keeps the boogeyman so voters can be scared into submission.
We need immigrants to help a flailing economy thanks to the baby boomer population (immigrants help us economically!, it’s a statistical fact!). Immigrants also have lower crime rates than typical groups of people born here. Housing the homeless is cheaper than arresting them, ER visits (because no preemptive healthcare) are most expensive, ETC ETC. All the fear mongering is just lies, don’t believe the hatred and look into it yourself so you’re not spreading misinformation.

It always makes me wonder what delicious flavors nature has provided that I’m missing out on. Just like Banana’s in the states, we have a “main” variety of apple which is “Red Delicious” (it’s just a name, not delicious).
