  • Jokes aside, I prefer Burger King to McDonalds, and I think it’s because McDonalds came under a lot more scrutiny in my country and had been forced to tone down their menu and marketing. Maccy D’s were the ones who rapidly expanded in the UK and also made bank from Happy Meals and the child market, so of course they’d have all eyes upon them.

McDonalds are trying to make their menus and advertising appear healthier, whereas BK are like “look at this sexy dripping quarter pound whopper, you know you want it you fat fuck!”

And that’s why I can order a Bacon Double Cheeseburger XL from my local BK and feel like I’m actually eating a burger, whereas the equivalent in a McDonalds costs 30% less but is half the size, doesn’t taste flame grilled and looks like it was rapidly cobbled from preprocessed shit that’s less than 32% meat.

  • Moon Man isn’t really a vaporwave thing. It’s a meme that originated from YTMND in the late 2000’s which rebranded Mac Tonight as a white supremacist rapper, often accompanied with slur-filled text-to-speech parodies of various rap songs.

It’s not the reason McDonalds ditched the mascot (that was due to an entirely unrelated trademark infringement lawsuit filed by Bobby Darin’s son in 1989), but it is a big reason why they started actively pulling down Mac Tonight animatronics in their restaurants which were otherwise being left disused.

The most infamous Moon Man thing to exist is a controversial DOOM mod which replaces all the enemies with incredibly xenophobic depictions of minorities, and adds a roster of several playable characters including him, Hitler and Ben Garrison.

It’s gone viral on several meme pages I follow on Facebook…

Also if this employee doesn’t get rewarded for the tip-off that led to Luigi’s arrest, what kind of message is that going to send to the public about law enforcement? It’s just going to reinforce the already-growing ACAB narrative and make people distrust the police even further…

Heck, the very real possibility of being publicly outed, shamed, harassed and threatened for being the one to rat on Luigi, and not getting the promised $60,000 reward could end up radicalising more people.
