I know the feelings of the subjects of the article all too well. I was promoted to mid level manager for a year and hated it. I’ll never do it again. I’m quite happy to stay a lowly peon in the organization and make less money. The extra pay just ain’t worth the additional responsibilities, hours, and stress.
I have a coworker who should be running my whole department, she knows the business inside and out, knows all the major players in other companies and is straightforward with no bs. She has turned down the job so many times and after a while I slowly began to get it.
I’m in that same boat. Turned down a management position when they offered a sweet 0.6% raise
Same here, I didn’t put in “extra hours” because why would I? I’d just earn less.
Am a base code grunt now, no regrets.
I keep getting directed into management roles but I know I am a shit manager so I have to keep rejecting the bumps.
Dodging those bullets!
I checked my Viva insights last week and learned that I had 118 meetings over the last 4 weeks. Tank is empty, y’all are getting best effort.
