      The Judiciary branch of government has historically been pretty consistent with maintaining at least appearances even with political bias. Judges usually recuse themselves when there are glaringly obvious conflicts. The mechanisms to enforce it are weak or non-existent depending on the level up the chain.

      Blatantly ignoring ethics and obvious massive political bias are pretty new. They usually at least Tried to keep up appearances.
