I love the parties I go to. There’s always a great group of people like me having a sit and just talking shit all night. Eventually as the bingers start dropping off like flies, things wind down and one by one people migrate over and join in, sitting with a relieving sigh and a friendly welcome.

Because someone’s got to get up for a drink every so often, the duty is to report back if anything crazy or funny is going on inside, otherwise back to talking shit. Extra great if there’s a firepit and a Bluetooth speaker.

  • What do you do when someone is violently trying to knock down your door?

Well for starters, why have I put myself.in a situation where.this.is happening? But, secondly, I think this was a bad example you pulled anyway, as it was about defence toward immediate violence, rather than instigating it on social issues. In this case the aggressor in your example is the idiot instigating,.i.e. the very behaviour you’re attempting to excuse. And it that’s your stance, well; case in point.

I challenge you to show a real world example of ending oppression that was achieved by asking nicely when one side refuses to come to the negotiating table.

Asking nicely? It happens. But methods without violence? In most cases, the solution to stopping such threats is to cease empowering them, and we have many methods of how this is done in the real.world, daily. Violence creates reactive violence, creates a victim opportunity,.and instills animosity. Its solutions are temporary as nothing resolved the core issue, but it did inteoduce new ones.

So, what are you doing to cease empowerimg your “oppressors”—apart from buying into their systems, wearing their actions, and remaining seated in a place you think sucks? Mm-mm. There that apathy.

  • I off-road a lot and I can’t imagine these people in my community. There’s a mentality of care—be it trail, rubbish, etc.—that is so strong, those that don’t adhere to it are ostracised and quickly adjust. Even deep in the wilderness with no one around for hundreds of kilometres, going off-trail or into forbidden areas is reserved only for emergencies. But even then still, if time permits, it’s consulted with over sat phone first to gain agreeance with emergency services that it’s the required solution over camping out for a few days waiting for rescue to get out there.

Yes, there’s bad eggs, but not enough to have these sorts of levels of lack of care.

The solution? Shut the area down entirely with very hefty fines in place. Taking things people love off of them because of some bad eggs results in the community policing itself and shifting that mentality. Just look at how it worked for the Rubicon Trail, amazing care and respect to the trail by everyone now.
