Science@lemmy.ml•COVID vaccination and post-infection cancer signals: Evaluating patterns and potential biological mechanisms | Oncotarget
0·2 months agoThis feels a bit like an antivaxxer got hold of some scientists lol; the title makes it seem more related to COVID, but the summary goes ham about the delivery method and boosters being a causation. Which could be valid, but hot damn fix that title.

11·1 year agoI have trouble on LOS actually having reliable connection in the google messages app. People send things and I won’t receive them even if the app is open, and for them they see “offline”.

homeassistant@lemmy.world•What hidden "secrets" have you learned from your home automation?English
1·1 year agoI tend to post then disappear lol but what the other person said: at the router level, I added a rule specifically to block a given list of MAC addresses. That included IP cams & the ecobee, then had HA act on data from other sources to adjust temperature.
The one I was proud of was 433mhz door and window sensors that, if opened for too long, would turn off the heat / air and just leave a fan on.

homeassistant@lemmy.world•What hidden "secrets" have you learned from your home automation?English
2·1 year agoOne of the nifty things about smart thermostats like Ecobees is that you can pull usage data from their web portal.
Ecobee also let’s you connect over HomeKit and allows you to control when the internet is out 😉at my old house I actually blocked the mac address for non internal and just had HA automatons take care of the rest.

politics @lemmy.world•Leaders of 'Uncommitted' and 'Abandon Harris' movements reflect on Trump's victory and early moves
111·1 year agoThe article states that some of them just wanted a candidate to acknowledge them, which trump did. Regardless of how he’s actually going to implement policies, he did a bare minimum for them, which reflects in the results.
No other real editorializing needed, unfortunately.

Came here to say that: the most economic solution is to backup any dockerfiles themselves, though that also has the caveat that any installs within the build steps might also depend on external resources that could also be dropped.
There are methods of adding a local caching layer between your system and external, which might be what OP is after, but that involves investing in the additional space needed to back them up
