And they are using paid influencers to promote said debt trap to those that don’t know any better, particularly children.
Probably the most insidious part of this to me. Seeing those clips of “influencers” pushing the idea of convincing your parents to get you a rental PC. Disgusting.
Thankfully there is a very simple, no-effort solution to this: Don’t play their trash.
I already don’t play their excruciatingly mediocre games and this just reinforces my avoidance is justified.
Also good gods they’ve been milking this tired franchise for almost 2 decades now.
Ah yes, those illegal migrants from Canada, the country that is notoriously difficult to enter. Must be heaps of those!
Hope Americans enjoy paying inflated prices for fuels, manufactured parts, beef, wheat, and grains because Canada is a large supplier of those to the US. Trade deals between Canada and the US are valued at around $1tril per year. I hope those that voted for Trump really feel like those increased prices make them feel like they’re being put “first”.
From a user perspective: A tablet that folds up to the size of a phone. Or a phone that flips to the size of a compact little square.
From a business perspective: A phone with an extremely fragile screen that will require frequent replacement and a hinge that has limited life, ensuring customer retention and re-purchasing.
I do keep a loose eye on them, especially flips as I like the idea of a phone that can fold up really small for tiny pockets. Their unfathomable prices and durability issues put me off, though. I have seen foldables that have been kept past the usual 2-year contract window and… oof. They do not age gracefully. For the $1,800-$3,200CAD asking price that is unacceptable. Does not help that the only foldables with major retail presence here are from Samsung and Samsung’s customer service and warranty support here is atrocious.
I always did find it amusing that they are called the United States when it seems like it’s constantly teetering on brink of another civil war.
Google is an ad company so this is was a given.
I have to do a hard refresh every time I open Lemmy (any instance) to get logged back in. It started happening a few FIrefox updates ago.
But think of the shareholders!!
It was barely even alive for it to die in the first place 👀
Should’ve rounded it up to 1B. And then tripled it.
Posteo isn’t a monthly charge to your credit card. It uses a credits that you can top up whenever you feel like it. I usually put in a year’s worth of credits in advance which costs me around $17CAD.
I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with Posteo. Their features list is very good for the pittance they charge per month.
Basically every American I personally know lives paycheque-to-paycheque as megacorps move in to bleed them dry on every front.
I was able to use that trick to cancel my Adobe sub without a cancellation fee and then bought Affinity Photo 2 right after. I’ve integrated it fully into my workflow now and won’t ever look back.
Fuck Adobe and fuck their stranglehold on creative industries.
Reminder to never believe a damn word that comes out of this man’s mouth. https://motherfrunker.ca/fsd/
If it is going to be a primary computer or a work computer then I would get the Pro. The extra horsepower and cooling just simply make it more capable.
The Air is still a very good laptop and it is surprising what it can do, but if this is going to be a work tool for you then you should get the best that you can afford. An Air might be good 90% of the time but that 10% where it overheats will suck heaps.
Wow, this comment teleported me back to 2010 dealing with edgy 15 year-olds that think their opinion is the only thing that matters.
Turns out, people don’t like it when software is installed on their computers without their permission. Especially when it violates their privacy! The term for this is “malware”.
The features customers actually want vs what the shareholders tell them they want.
This is one of the most “We are a plastics company and will say any silly thing to justify the existence of our product” things I’ve seen on a long time. Regular bicycles are already extremely durable, serviceable, and have plenty of parts options. They can last 20-40 years easily. Something I doubt this Fisherprice-esque bicycle will do as it sheds microplastics everywhere and can’t actually be recycled because plastic is one of the most difficult to recycle materials in the world.
Sorry to nitpick it so much. I probably wouldn’t have been so salty if they didn’t make the BS claims. A simple “We are plastic company! Look, plastic bike!” would’ve been fine.
