  • I think this is one of those cases where we’re using different language but completely agree.

What I meant by mistakes was that they weren’t making trial mistakes. They were making dumb ass political calculations when they should have been seeking justice. I generally think of that as a “tried and failed” tactic rather than “we were misguided”.

That being said, you’re right. Playing politics rather than treating everyone equally under the law is a huge fucking mistake.

  • I was on call 24/7 for years. It’s been a long time since I had to deal with that (with a slide into a related career rather than changing careers) but I will never forget how terrible it was. I wasted what should have been my best years on that shit.

Now there’s only one person at work who has my number. He doesn’t call except for the one time I forgot to put my day off on the calendar. My work apps are paused at 5pm and all weekend. I only get alerts on my computer. However, I still twitch sometimes when my phone goes off after hours because it was a learned and deeply reinforced response for so many years.

  • Try mentioning this to Tailor Swift fans and you’ll get immediately crucified. We should normalize the idea that THERE ARE NO ETHICAL BILLIONAIRES. Period.

While I agree with your sentiment, I don’t think she’s the place to start bitching. She’s one of the “better” ones in that she’s not out here actively hunting the poor on an island somewhere. You start with folks like Musk, Bezos, and Murdoch, and by shining a light on the billionaires that are stealing the wealth and resources of entire countries but staying out of the limelight by keeping their fucking mouths shut. Then we start moving towards Swift. Otherwise the message will just get drowned out by fans.
