  • Well, he’s right, if they’re quitting over him removing the fact checkers. He’s also virtue signaling that he’s actually for free speech by removing them, just as he was virtue signalling that he was a good boi by hiring them in the first place. Zuckerberg is going to signal to whoever is currently in power that he’s going to do whatever they tell him to, no matter who it is, because it’s in the best interest of his position at fb.

I think getting rid of fact checkers is a good thing, but I don’t think for a second that he wouldn’t immediately get them back if the next admin told him to.

  • To self-study for the FE exam. It’s what freshly-graduated engineering students have to take to officially be “in-training” as an engineer.

Welp, I do not have a bachelors degree in engineering, but I’m coming up on 3 years of working in the field as a designer and next year I can also take the exam. So, I’m going to spend the next year teaching myself everything I’ll need to know.

  • I’m in the process of buying a new house.

I think “good time” is just kind of luck. I’m buying now because circumstances make it the best choice. Interest rates are kind of high (mine is 7%) and if that drops a few, I’ll refinance to get a better rate.

I looked for houses that had a space easily convertible to a MIL suite cut off from the rest of the house. My plan is to get the house payment down as quick as possible with a renter in the MIL suite.

  • 2018 Kia Soul.

I like boxy cars, they’re big on the inside. And the small boxy ones don’t feel small.

I had a 2005 Honda Element for many years, and it just started falling apart. The car itself was worth less than the fix, so I got rid of it, but I got used to no car payment, so I decided I wouldn’t pay more than $300/month. Found this car for 10k. Perfect.

I like it. It’s slow to gain speed, but I’m not trying to out speed anyone. It also fits my giant 112lb dog no problem. It’s comfy, and though most would now think it’s old tech-wise, it was a major improvement in tech compared to my previous car.
