Donald Trump has 267 of the 270 electoral votes needed to win the White House and is leading in key races left to be called, including Michigan and Wisconsin.
I voted for Harris but I can’t help but feel democrats did this to themselves. We’ve held a decent amount of power over the last 20 years but have done shockingly little. Just slowly letting our country dry and shrivel, leaving people increasingly desperate. Times like these make people seek change, ANY CHANGE, including voting for a dictator. Status-quo politics will fail every time during times like these. Who wants to die slowly?
All authoritarian countries are born from desperation. Chinese communist party, Nazi Germany, the USSR, Iran, North Korea and soon America.
Yeah, I think a lot of dem voters have grown really apathetic. Democrat leaders hardly do anything so there’s a sense of pointlessness. It feels like their pitch is “we’re gonna fix everything by doing nothing! Trust us guys it’s gonna work this time!”. Trump says a bunch of bat shit crazy stuff that at least makes seem hes committed. I think that’s the key here.
Exactly this. And if you point it out, you’ll get all these reasons why it was impossible for Dems because of X, Y and Z, but deathly silence when it comes to “well but why were the Rs able to accomplish so much”? They’re managing to get people into office and do things while the Dems constantly flounder - which leads to even worse election results as constituents lose more faith in their ability to lead.
It’s a self fulfilling prophecy at this point. Dems are ineffectual, so they struggle to win elections, so they struggle to have the power to do anything, thus looking like continued failures and ensuring more losses down the line.
The whole party needs to be severely gutted and reborn. Or a third party needs to rise up and start speaking for the average progressive voice that’s not being heard anymore.
It leads to apathetic voters too, democrats who dont bother voting because they figure it won’t change anything.
The dems have an identity crisis, they are so aggravatingly centrist in an attempt to swing votes, that they’ve become incredibly passive in their approach. Republicans are determined to completely restructure America according to their ideology. Dems are so politically inclusive in their approach, trying to cater to “far left”, left, centrist AND slight right conservative that they are paralyzed concerning policy. The very best thing they can do is a 5% tax cut for the working class? Seriously?
I think if they went further left with candidates like Bernie, existing dems would be much more compelled to go out and vote. Right now they have zero commitment, almost none of Biden’s policies came to fruition.

They absolutely did. Harris couldn’t even commit to keeping Lina Khan on board.
Democrats are allergic to success.

Because Democrats wanted to not look partisan instead of actually doing something with their majority

Ah yes voting for a dictator is indeed innocent and blameless.
Moving to the right is a failed strategy. You will never be able to accept that.

I have never attempted to get anyone to vote third party. Not once.
