Quick! Before we’re out of power! Start WW3!!
Free labor is the cornerstone of US economics.
Mexico still needs to cooperate on some level to allow border agents to cross the border and dump ex-citizens.
Or I guess the US could just keep them in camps.
I don’t know why they even expect countries to cooperate with that shit. Why should Venezuela accept US citizens being deported into the country?
Yeah, they’re talking about deporting the children of undocumented immigrants.
But I was told Latinos are too machismo for women’s rights!
I’m sure this will help with the dramatic drop in people willing to volunteer for the army.
Didn’t Eli Valley predict this exactly? Like, as soon as Trump won, Democrats would “bravely” stand up and declare that genocide is wrong.
The military is already struggling to recruit and moves like this will only delegitimize our military even more. I’m sure they’ll always be able to find goons to wield guns, but it will cease to be a respectable career path for all but the most right-wing citizenry.
It’s not all bad.
I have a different hope, that Trump will ruin their actual offensive capacity and save the world from the Pentagon. The US can not be trusted with its own military.
During the Biden-Harris years, more granular data pointed to considerable strain. Real median household income fell relative to its pre-COVID peak. The poverty rate ticked up, as did the jobless rate. The number of Americans spending more than 30 percent of their income on rent climbed. The delinquency rate on credit cards surged, as did the share of families struggling to afford enough nutritious food, as did the rate of homelessness.
Government transfers buoyed families early in the Biden administration. But they contributed to inflation, and much of the money went away in the second half of Biden’s term. The food-stamp boost, the extended child tax credit, the big unemployment-insurance payments—each expired. And the White House never passed the permanent care-economy measures it had considered.
Interest rates were a problem too. The mortgage rate more than doubled during the Biden-Harris years, making credit-card balances, car payments, and homes unaffordable. A family purchasing a $400,000 apartment with 20 percent down would pay roughly $2,500 a month today versus $1,800 three years ago.
I dunno, that all looks pretty bad too. The lesson from this election is that you can’t tunnel vision on the numbers that look good while dismissing the ones that look bad, but that’s exactly what Democrats did. Worse, when working class voters expressed their pain, Democrats talked down to them and basically told them it wasn’t real and they were being tricked by fake news.
The mass deportations will require internment camps to hold people until their trial is processed.
And what do you think will be done with the people in those camps? They’ll put them to work! Except even cheaper than the starvation wages they were getting before, because it’ll be pennies on the dollar like our other slave workforce of prisoners.
Welcome to America. Work sets you free.
The island of stability known as compromise.
😔
The Party won’t.
My hope is that a lot of Party members do, though. It’d be nice if progressives stopped trying to do entryism into the Democrats.
Lowering inflation doesn’t lower prices, and prices are what voters actually care about.
Prices won’t be going down under Trump either, though, so I’m not sure how much credit Trump will get.
He would have lost even harder.
There’s an unspoken implication that the 30% who are men all deserved to die.
It’s likely that a similar percentage of men are totally unaffiliated with Hamas.
Except they made the tent big enough for Liz Cheney, but not big enough to let a Palestinian-American speak at the Convention.
Prove it.
