Are you using DNS Rewrites for jellyfin? I am using that (via AdGuard Home) w/ my Reverse Proxy (Zoraxy) and most of the apps work outside of jellyfin. Wondering if I need to configure the domain in the compose/env file 🤔

2·2 years agoI use the bluesky bridge. One of the issues is that it is opt-in instead of opt out. I feel like most of the people I find that are using the bridge are likely also part of the federated universe to begin w/.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump rages at Biden for wrecking his plans for executions: ‘Makes no sense’
21·2 years agoCan you reiterate what you were trying to say then? To me, these quotes sound reductive but perhaps there’s nuance I’m overlooking:
each politician acting in their personal self-interest
both of them have thoroughly demonstrated to be their only priority
This is political theater where they’re playing with the lives of the people in question.

politics @lemmy.world•History Shows Big Changes in ‘Big Government’ Are Hard to Achieve
8·2 years agoI’m not sure if NYT is trying to soothe our anxieties or make us complacent.
I think the level of access to the president and unscrupulous/amoral actors in the administration is unrivaled and will lead to unprecedented outcomes.
IMO it’s like predicting in January 2020 that the US would be unscathed from Covid because we have had +100 years without an extreme pandemic.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump rages at Biden for wrecking his plans for executions: ‘Makes no sense’
72·2 years agoYes, I also agree that the president that commuted many death sentences is exactly the same as the president wanting to execute all of the prisoners
macattack@lemmy.worldtoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•Just give it a different name when you do it
423·2 years agoThis meme seems reductive. Mandatory protection would also cover a single-payer health system.
There’s a difference between protesting poor regulation of mandatory services (ie healthcare) vs a libertarian, “It’s my right to die in a car crash because I don’t want to wear a seatbelt”
With OpenAI’s latest release, it’s becoming apparent that AGI is looming and it would cause OpenAI to end its partnership w/ MSFT IIRC

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Why are my matrix/element push notifications so delayed?English
1·2 years agoIs element on the main profile or are you waiting for notifications from secondary profiles? Also, might not be related, but my messaging notifications w/ GrapheneOS has gotten worse in the past week or so (Google Messaging hasn’t always alerted to new messages until I open the app and it pulls them) so it might be a Graphene thing as well.

politics @lemmy.world•President Biden commutes sentence for former Dixon, Ill. Comptroller Rita Crundwell, who embezzled over $53M
191·2 years agoNot a huge fan of Biden’s presidency, but it sounds like his commutations were based on whether society deemed them eligible for home release during covid. I’m assuming he didn’t individually look at all 1,500 other commutations. Unless I’m reading it wrong, society deemed her low risk and she has been out of prison since 2021.
Definitely sloppy tho.
I popped and locked back in the day and can do the wave w/ my arms. I end up doing it on like 80% of first dates that are going well.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why does the Music Industry allow Spotify/Apple to profit off of them?
21·2 years agoIIRC, the music industry was in decline long before Spotify was made. The transition period before Spotify was just illegally downloading everything through Limewire/Kazaa/Napster etc.
Also, the reason podcasts make money is because they can produce something that brings audiences in on a weekly basis. The music industry OTOH has artists that make an album a year or less. It’s not as sustainable and it’s harder to sell ads against.
I don’t think more segmentation is a wanted solution by consumers either. Consumers would much rather use one app for all platforms than have to buy a different streaming service every time they want to listen to a new album.
macattack@lemmy.worldtoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•And surprisingly, only a similar number in the top quartile!English
1·2 years agoTrue.
I think that as we move towards shorter and shorter clips/tweets, there’s an assumed prior context that is often missing. For example, Borat or Stephen Colbert’s character on The Daily Show are clear caricatures but when you have a 5-second clip out of context, it actually feeds into the narrative it is ridiculing.
The same goes for naming cosplaying an elected official.
macattack@lemmy.worldtoMicroblog Memes@lemmy.world•And surprisingly, only a similar number in the top quartile!English
10·2 years agoThat’s the frustrating thing about the current internet climate. In a time when less and less people are interested in researching the backstory of a tweet/policy/person, things like this are shared w/o context. Had to go down a rabbit hole to realize it’s a fake satire writer.

I have a local folder where I put downloaded youtube audio and the RSS feed updates automatically when new files are placed there. Then, I access it through Lissen or the official audiobookshelf app.
