Just make sure not to take it too far if you do proportional voting. We have a system in the Netherlands that works like that but the result is that we now also have about 30 parties running for government, most of them being fairly pointless. Don’t get me wrong, it’s better than the US shenanigans but you can also go too far.
And there will still be delusional voters saying that shit isn’t going to hit the fan the second Trump takes over. It’s insane how far up their own ass they are. At this rate it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if he tries to arrest Biden the second he hands over the reigns.
It’s a lot more difficult to blame things on others once you’ve been in charge for that long and shit still fails and breaks down. That’s my hope for other countries as well, that the continued downward spiral under a right wing government eventually makes the pendulum swing back towards the left. I just hope that there’ll be politicians to jump in once the opportunity arises.
A lot of the rest of the world has either been voting their Bernies away or is in the process to do so. Right wing populism is taking over many other countries as well, just look at Europe. Almost all countries here have either right wing governments or are drifting towards it at the moment.
It’s so funny to me how a lot of the people that voted for Trump seem to think it’ll not be that bad. Dude, he literally told you ALL of his plans. Even if only half of it goes through it’s still going to get significantly harder for most people. How can you willingly vote for that?
I’m over in the Netherlands but I have in-laws in the USA and many of them either didn’t vote or voted republican according to my partner. I tried my best convincing them to at least vote but it’s pointless, many people believe that it doesn’t matter who you vote for because the secret elite in the background will determine the result anyway.
I honestly feel sick to even be in-law related to Trump voters and it’s really making me not want to talk to those people ever again. It’s hard to realize that much of her family is heavily reliant on medication for various conditions (diabetes, heart disease, painkillers, etc) and that it’ll most likely get much harder for them once Trump takes office and starts destroying Obamacare again.

Unless they change the rules, Trump cannot have another term. I’d honestly be surprised if he survives all the way until 2028 anyway, he’s already ancient and pretty unhealthy. Add to that that people might try and take matters into their own hands and you get a pretty dangerous mix. I’m not sure if JD stepping in would be better though, he seems even crazier and definitely more insidious than the orange man.
As a Dutch person we’d happily welcome the more sensible Americans over here 🙂. I can’t guarantee our government wouldn’t try to stop a mass migration wave given their anti-immigrant policies though.
It’s funny, my partner and I were actually talking about moving to the US for a while to spend more time with my American in-laws but I think that’ll be out of the window for the next four years.
Is there any chance that shit was rigged this time around? As an outsider it’s honestly just crazy to me that the difference can be so huge, almost unimaginable.

It’s ridiculous and the worst part is that they’ll probably get away with it too, same as Netflix. My family consists of 3 households sharing the same account, with these changes that would mean €6 a month extra on the first account + having to create a second account which will also be like €10 a month or something.
They also very much had the advantage of knowing their terrain and both Hitler and Napoleon got cocky and kept going during winter time without being prepared for it. Hitler especially was actually making good progress until winter hit so you could almost even say that Russia took a calculated risk (even though I think it’s more of a “got lucky” situation).

I suspect women’s day (just like mother’s day and father’s day) led to a spike in sales at business, meaning they embraced it with marketing and special deals.
Men’s day is a bit different because like you said, it’s not as well known, and also men generally resort to buying gifts more often than most women do for men.
