Yea. Used it for four things. To keep up to date with creators I like, to keep up to date with friends, to keep up to date with a bunch of webcomics and to randomly rant into the void when I felt like it.

I usually turn on a light motion blur in games that I f don’t get above 40-ish fps, because the motion blur masks the stuttering. I prefer no motion blur and stuttering to too much or bad motion blur though. I couldn’t play Horizon Zero Dawn on the PS4 Pro, because the motion blur was really intense, even in performance mode and there was no way to turn it off.

I really like it when games give you an intensity slider instead of just on or off. Spiderman on the PS4, for example runs at 30fps. It looks like a stuttery mess with motion blur off. With motion blur at the highest setting (which is the default I think), you cannot see a thing when moving. But putting it at ~20% or so masks the stuttering very well without being a complete eyesore.

I also like object based motion blur a lot, like the Jedi games have. Instead of blurring the camera movement, it only blurs the movement of objects that are actually moving (quickly), which has a nice effect, in my opinion.

In general though, I prefer having better performance and a clear image, but motion blur is a useable band-aid solution if performance is a limiting factor.

I have similar opinions to the likes of DLSS, FSR & Co. I vastly prefer running games at native resolution but when my GPU can’t keep up, FSR it is. I‘m not yet convinced of frame generation as an alternative to motion blur to get 30fps feeling a little closer to 60 but I haven’t gotten around to testing that yet either. Im not categorically against it in Games, unlike in movies. Motion smoothing in TVs is a pest.

For e-readers? It’s fine, if it’s modified heavily enough. The tolino e-reader line (before they just became kobos) used a heavily modified version of Android and they were great devices.

They still have much longer battery life and they’re still like reading on paper. Just not in a very high “print” quality when in colour.

Normal tablets don’t have e-Ink screens and for reading electrophoretic displays are vastly superior to LED/LCD screens.

Heyday Films, which also produced them, is British. And they were filmed in the UK with British producers and predominantly British actors and crew.

They’re definitely not 100% British but I‘d argue, they’re more British than American.

The Harry Potter films are very much British, not American, so the women’s list isn’t entirely American.

Absolutely. 4 or 5 years ago I got myself the current firetv stick 4K because my tv had an absolutely terrible smart tv platform (slow, almost no recognizable apps). After a month or so, I sold it to a friend, bought an AppleTV and never looked back.

VA has gotten really good over the years and I‘d prefer it over a similarly priced IPS, if neither has local dimming or quantum dots or something like that. VA has so much better contrast. Of course, it’s nothing against OLED, QLED, microLED, etc but it’s also in a very different price class.

I never regretted the 200€ I paid for an appleTV 4K. No ads, no nonsense, just a smooth and pleasant smart tv experience. Even got almost all the features I was missing compared to android tv through updates over the 4½ years I’ve had it (like vpn support). Whichever brand I‘ll be getting, when I eventually upgrade my tv, I‘ll never connect it to the internet and just continue using my AppleTV.

I also don’t care wir RDR2. The game ran well in my experience and it wasn’t getting on your nerves. You didn’t even notice, if you didn’t look for it.

For ebooks in particular, owning what you buy isn’t that difficult though. You can legally buy DRM protected epubs in a lot of online book stores and then use the software calibre (open source) to strip the DRM. Much easier than with music, movies or software.

I‘d recommend the software calibre. Great for managing your ebook library and it can convert epub into amazons azw, mobi or kfx formats (depending on which generation kindle you have). With the right plugin you can even create WordWise data for your kindle-converted ebooks.

You don’t even necessarily need to illegally download the books, as calibre can also handle the DRM of .ebub books you bought from almost any store. Of course, sailing the seven seas is still always an option though.
