  • My response is still the same. Because the more uncommon something is (i.e. not He/she/they) then it’s also reasonable to expect people to get it wrong a bunch. Also, I really feel pointing toward odd pronouns is such a stawman too, because it’s overwhelmingly people asking for he/she/they (male/female/neither).

If there is someone non-binary out there really getting mad at people who mis-gender them without being told first (again, never met anyone like this, ever), then I’d encourage them to practice some empathy and be realistic.

I’m betting there is practically no one out there seriously asking to be called master.

Though smeagol uses it for master. Master is nice to smeagol.

I really think this “debate” is such a waste of time. Just try to accommodate people if it’s easy.

And calling someone by the name they choose (and are often legally called), and the gender they identify with, is such low effort, and making mistakes is such a non-issue if your attitude is good.

What is the fuss all about. (I know the answer, I just think the answer is stupid)

I think the best response that’s always worked for me is:

“Who cares!” Person riled up about this inclined to agree with me because they think I’m on the two genders “side of the debate”. “Just try your best to call people what they want to be called and move on. If someone’s name is x, try call them x, if they say ‘I am a y’, try calling them a y. If you get it wrong accidentally, oh well, just say sorry and try again. Why are we even still talking about this? It’s such a non-issue”

Highly effective on those who aren’t super conservative and just been swept up in the (in my opinion) astroturfed outrage.

  • As long as I’m still allowed to pretend episodes 7, 8 & 9 did not happen. They just stray too far from good world building for me to allow them to exist in my head-cannon.

And preferably, I would like the people who do like them to stop liking them, because Disney is motivated by money haha

I am selfish, and I’m okay with that

Invading aside (which is wrong and makes sense to be mad about), may I ask why would you be mad about people eating dogs?

(Presuming here you think eating dogs is a moral wrong, beyond animals in general).

I just don’t think it’s cool to judge other cultures on what they eat.

I think no one should be judged for what they eat. I don’t eat meat, and think in general it’s nicer not to do so, for environmental and empathetic reasons, and if pressed would encourage others (not unsocilited). I dislike vegetarians/vegans who go out and tell meat eaters they’re doing something morally abhorrent, and judging them.

But equally, I dislike meat eaters telling dog eaters that what they’re doing is somehow worse

It isn’t, and I’m sick of western society pretending like it is. Just feels icky

Here’s a unpopular opinion: invading your neighbours being wrong aside, I feel like eating dog meat isn’t morally any worse than eating a pigs or cows. (Assuming they’re not someone’s pet).

I’m vegetarian, and feel it’s unhelpful and judgy to get mad at people for eating meat, I just think people give countries where dogs are eaten way too much crap. To the point I even think it’s subtly racist to judge other cultures for eating dog meat (again, I think we certainly should judge Russia and North Korea for invading).

Dogs are cute, but heck cows are too, so like don’t get riled up about people eating one, if you happy eating the other.

  • I echo the sentiment (regarding Trump being a much, much worse outcome), but you can already “Kiss Hong Kong goodbye”. It’s part of China, they have cracked down, and the two systems has been reduced to like 1.5 systems ahead of schedule.

I am genuinely curious what you think either presidential candidate would do about this, considering they will continue to espouse the One China policy. Where they might differ is in their support of Taiwan, whose status is much more murky.

Hong Kong though? Pretty sure that ship sailed once the UN decided: no Empire no longer, and the 99 year lease came to an end.
