  • The implication is that if you want something of quality you are going to expect to pay for that quality.

If it’s cheap then corners were cut. Several years ago the tech was just as you described. Not perfect. I bought an ender 3 pro and it wasn’t perfect. I sank a lot of money into it to get an “acceptable” result. It sounds like you selected hard-mode and chose a Delta. I can’t imagine what you went through. I hope you’re ok.

I recently got back into the hobby, and decided to spend more for a better quality printer. Prusa was the Cadillac back when I was toiling in Ender upgrades. What I have found is that newer printers and and slicer software have made a drastic leap forward. Things are markedly better all around.

I chose Prusa, but it was a tough choice. I probably would have been just as happy with Bambu, but I would have paid more.

Based on my journey I suggest you spend more for quality. Right now that’s Bambu lab and prusa. Prusa is behind, but the customer service is there. Bambu is going through some legal troubles, so that is something to consider.

I think because it’s been a a minute since you’ve dabbled you’ll find things have improved. Maybe don’t buy a delta. The Prusa MK4s bed slinger is the fastest bed slinger. The Bambu core XY is faster and comes with an enclosure. Prusa just announced a Core XY but it wont ship for months and it has smaller in build dimensions.

As far as budget printers go, I haven’t wasted any time looking into them. I wasn’t gonna mess around and find out this time. Maybe there is something out there that would make you happy, but I’m not going to gamble and suggest one.

  • Did you bother to contact their customer support asking if they plan to add this feature?

In my biased opinion, I would imagine Gmail would want to use you and your emails for every ounce of data they can squeeze out of it. However proton is a paid service who doesn’t sell your data, with much less Human Resources than google, therefore less language support. They add things as fast as they can get around to them. If you inquire they might be more apt to add the support if they have someone on staff that can do it.

  • Aside from your choice to combat someone you perceive as wrong online in their own arena of sycophants. How many fucking Reddit account do you need? I’m pretty sure having more than one is against ToS. I could understand if you had a main account and an alt account for saying shit you feel ashamed of, but you literally make it out like you had dozens. That’s pretty damn weird.

  • Windows 11 has taken a feature from Linux distros called “Task View” where you can create additional “desktops”. You could do something similar with that and forego the additional laptop/desktops.

This might be a little unorthodox, but this is an option to reduce hardware costs and maximize desktops.

    • 1x PC
    • 4x Monitors (or more if you want to buy another video card)
    • 1x server to be used as a Proxmox Virtualization Environment server to host as many desktop OS’s as you want.

you can split your four-monitor workstations’ screen real estate any way you like. keep using the same mouse and keyboard and just tab through the virtual workstations that you need to work on.

Proxmox is free for personal use. You can run it on a dedicated desktop workstation connected to your network. you are limited to the resources in your hardware. RAM, CPU, Storage. you’ll be slicing that up between the number of Virtual Machines that you create, so think about what you will be wanting. For example, if your specs are one desktop with 8G of ram and 128G of disk space. multiply that time the number of workstations you want, add the basic requirements of Proxmox as a server, and you have a good idea of what you are going to need.

If you want tons of resources you could buy a decommissioned server off of ebay. something akin to a Dell R720 or better. They can be upgraded to quite a bit of RAM and storage space. I think mine has something like 2 physical CPU’s @ 32 cores, 256G of RAM, and 3.2T of disk space (RAID10). I paid around $500 for mine a few years ago. and a few dollars more to max out the RAM, and a few dollars more to add some sold state drives in the drive bays. The entire system came in under the cost of a mid-range gaming pc. or a little under the price of one NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080.

  • Creality is good because they brought an entry level 3d printer to market for an affordable price, and people like me got into the hobby because of that. The price point shows in the parts they use to assemble it. I’ve clocked countless hours learning how to correct failures, and upgrade the cheap parts for better, more reliable parts, add features, modify and flash firmware.

Five and a half years ago I bought that ender 3 pro. I think it was around $250 USD. I probably spent over $300 more upgrading it and replacing parts. In retrospect I shouldn’t have cheaped out, but that’s the conclusion I came to. I no longer want to waste time fixing the printer. If I walk away and don’t print anything for weeks/months at a time I’d like to have confidence when I fire it up it’s going to work.

I ordered a Prusa MK4S about a month ago which was the top-end hobbyist printer back then, and I am blown away by the difference. Prusa may not be the top at the moment, but the quality and support is there.

I recommend that unless you have the free time, you’re willing to tinker, and are not easily frustrated, you should look into a higher quality brand.

I’ve never watched any of his videos, but I’ve seen clips. I just can’t do it with the amount of cringe inducing content. The channel shows his last upload was 7 months ago. That’s one hell of a transformation. My first thought is “is this real or some sort of AI filter?” My second thought was what kind of damage did he do to himself in the process of this transformation? Was it “natural” via diet and exercise, or surgery? 7 months and 250 pounds lost (if that can be believed) seems very, very extreme. I don’t even know if with some money and a paid physical trainer with questionable ethics it could be possible. The amount of excess skin would be another thing to consider. He got me to click and watch a couple of minutes so maybe he won the game, but at what cost?

  • 7 years together. 30’s. Grown ass adult who hasn’t figured herself out yet. Selfish behavior. Probably more selfishness on the way.

Perspective one: you got robbed of 7 years because you hitched your wagon to the wrong star. Our most precious thing we have is our time on this earth.

Perspective two: you dodged a bullet. This could have happened farther down the road and been way more damaging. What if you had kids? What if you were in your 60’s?

Perspective Three: maybe it was good while it lasted. Maybe you continue to be friends.

It’s gonna hurt for a long while. Spending that long relying on, caring for, and sharing your life with someone is gonna make a serious wound that’s very slow to heal. It may never heal completely.

My advice is to extricate yourself as fast as possible and pretend they are dead. Seriously. Grieve. Rip the bandaid off. Send her belongings to her. Remove names from any leases, utilities, or other shared accounts. Leave no reason for future contact. Is this someone you want to be friends with (and their new partner)? If not then cut all ties and change your number and socials. Refuse further contact. Make it nearly impossible to get in touch with you. Guess what? That 7 years can be a black hole for her as well. You really don’t want to be contacted later by this person when they feel like they need validation, approval, or forgiveness, or at your weakest point try and get you back. Mourn the loss of the idealized person you thought she was and do your best to move on in as healthy a way as you can muster. Figure out which mutual friends are yours and hers and cut the chaff as amicably as you can. Most importantly rebuild. Do not stagnate. What just happened to you is not a slight offense. It’s a killing blow to some people. Your foundation was just shaken. Don’t let it be your downfall. You can forgive on your own timeline and it won’t require letting her know. After what they took from you you owe them no more than the basic courtesy of an civil split, but nothing beyond that point. Cut all ties. Do not contact. Most importantly don’t let it ruin your trust in your next relationship.
