  • I couldn’t find anything about voting machines named Starling. There is a StarLink theory. The problem is that seems to be based on a TikTok video that was incoherent by most reports, and is no longer up.

I get that moneyed interests could get evidence removed from a centralized social media service. But nothing in the transcript I’ve found describes a specific link from StarLink to voting machines. In fact it sounds like the person just described the basics of TCP/IP in a roundabout way to make it sound sinister. The problem is election systems are air gapped with the exception of a few highly controlled access points. Situations where that’s been compromised, (such as allowing remote work from home for election office workers) have made the news for precisely the reason that it’s rare. And the most credible criticism of election security is that the election office’s computers could be compromised and used to spread malware to machines. But that’s an inherent weakness. If the office can’t access the results, they can’t report them.

Furthermore, there’s nothing special about StarLink that would make them a better access route. They aren’t close enough to intercept the unofficial results as a false cellphone tower, (and that wouldn’t change the official results later anyways), and any traffic going through them to attack election systems would also have to travel through modems on the ground, controlled by election officials. So destroying the satellite does nothing for covering your tracks. If you believe they can erase all traces of their traffic, then there’s no need to destroy a satellite as surely that would be even easier on a satellite controlled by a close ally.

At the end of the day, with what we know right now, the fuck up was with the Democrat’s messaging. Not anything to do with election security.

  • The biggest problem with the letters that went around is that it would require every swing state Secretary of State to stay quiet about it happening. And some of those SoS’s are die hard democracy and election people. It would also require the IT people not to leak any concerns and they aren’t known for staying quiet about systems being penetrated.

All in all it seems like a weird thing happened but the silence is verging on Secret Government Agency with millions of domestic spies that never write a tell all book conspiracy territory.

  • Oh I’m all for them doing it. I’m not trying to say not to do it. If nothing else it will probably bring a lot of Arab Americans back to the Democrats. I’m just bitter because if they had told AIPAC where to go and passed it months ago then I’m pretty sure we’d have at least one swing state. And showing any kind of fire, instead of, “Things will remain the same because we don’t see anything wrong with the direction of the country!”, would probably have brought more people to the polls in every swing state. I can’t guarantee it would have turned into a win, but it wouldn’t have been a fucking rout.

  • No, but SCOTUS can “reinterpret” the 14th Amendment. They’ve already taken the argument for a first date and they really liked it.

[Sane People] claim that anyone born in the United States is automatically a U.S. citizen, even if their parents are here illegally. But that ignores the text and legislative history of the 14th Amendment, which was ratified in 1868 to extend citizenship to freed slaves and their children.

The 14th Amendment doesn’t say that all persons born in the U.S. are citizens. It says that “[a]ll persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof” are citizens. That second, critical, conditional phrase is conveniently ignored or misinterpreted by advocates of “birthright” citizenship.

If you missed it, they’re claiming that undocumented people are not subject to the jurisdiction of the US, which is a really great way to lie, They’re hoping people don’t understand their big words. Jurisdiction means to have authority over and enforce laws upon. If the US didn’t have authority over undocumented people then there could be no deportations, arrests, speeding tickets, or HOA complaints against them. It’s ridiculous on it’s face but at least it’s not being pushed by a reputable organization like the Heritage Foundation.

If you do go read the rest of it, don’t forget they’re showing a very one sided take of definitions that’s favorable to them. They aren’t writing this as a good faith educational piece. For example, we know that courts and the government routinely ignored parts of the reconstruction era acts and Amendments until over a hundred years later. Relying on the opinions of those doing the ignoring is another way for them to talk fast and hope you don’t realize what they’ve done.

  • Generals aren’t selected by him personally though. Not unless congress completely folds to him. Remember one Senator holding up all of the promotions? That actually frees up military leadership to appoint replacements themselves. Within reason of course, they aren’t putting a private in charge of a brigade. But it does mean that with the tiniest bit of cover from Congress an officer corp loyal to the Constitution can block Trump’s agenda and make any purge take literal years to bear fruit. Not to complete it mind you, that will take even longer, just to cobble together enough of a chain of command to get a unit to actually deploy domestically.

That said the military are masters of malicious compliance. There’s a really big chance that resistance in the ranks looks like the generals ordering their troops out of the barracks but not taking any weapons because that would violate Posse Comitatus. Then fulfilling Trump’s orders by politely asking anyone they see for their papers. They wouldn’t arrest, detain, or chase anyone though, because that would be law enforcement and violate Posse Comitatus. They would of course studiously maintain an armed QRF on base just in case anyone finds the invasion of enemy aliens Trump is going to declare an emergency over. You might even see them get used against Cartels at the border in an attempt to appease Trump without clearly violating Posse Comitatus.

I do acknowledge it’s entirely possible the generals fold and put the onus on the lower ranks to ignore illegal orders. Which would destroy the military much faster as enlistments drop through the floor, stop loss is engaged, and desertion skyrockets.
