Only had this happen to me once. Not because the game or the hundreds of mods they wanted wouldn’t work, but because the group insisted on using a voice chat mod (instead of idk, discord or something) that barely even worked on windows. They used some super specific old version of team speak and some hand made binary to get it running. And once the “a Linux user just can’t admit he’s the problem” started dropping just because the solution was unstable on my machine, I kinda lost interest. I’m not gonna put in effort to hang out with assholes.

For coding it heavily depends on the language. For example, it’s quite decent at writing C#, but whenever I try to ask it any question about rust, it’s either flat out wrong or doesn’t even fucking compile.

Also found it most useful when I know exactly what I want, just don’t know the syntax. Like when I was writing C# code generation for the first time. Also unsurprisingly sucks at working with libraries.

Honestly would be hilarious. Considering their last missile test launch exploded in the silo. If there was a nuke inside, it would likely cause a chain reaction blowing up adjacent missiles. Oh, imagine russia’s other depo explosions that kept burning for days after the initial strike that was already strong enough to create a mushroom cloud, but like WAY BIGGER!

It’s funny they took this long to saber rattle this hard, before their heavily demonstrated incompetence, I might’ve been a little scared.

I finally switched when I got truly familiar with the terminal in collage and then I happened to get a hand down pc to play around with. Installed Linux on it, and it surprisingly quickly became my main computer, especially once I got it a proper graphics card.

I use it occasionally, in some games it looks better. Particularly games where the camera doesn’t swing around as wildly, meaning NO FPS GAMES! Or any game where you’re manually moving the camera all the time. I have yet to see a FPS where motion blur doesn’t fucking blind me for every split second I move.

I mean this is less of a free speech issue and more of a lack of information and education issue coupled with foreign disinformation campaigns. And specifically for America, also a societal isolation issue. Americans outside downtown rarely get any human contact and it shows, as trust between neighbors deteriorates. This sort of stuff is far less prevalent in countries that put more value in education and building communities.

Not that I don’t enjoy this particular piece of news, but I feel like I’ve been seeing it posted over and over across lemmy. Been seeing news posts like this daily.

Fuck no, I do my best to avoid adds and shitty algorithms promoting what I “want”, because it never is what I want! It’s always hot garbage! Finding anything meaningful is becoming harder and harder as adds become more prevalent. I ditched Google and YouTube for those reasons. I hate how it picks up on what I search for and shows me similar things in the future. I’m looking up stuff to find new things! Not the shit I’ve already seen!

I had my coming of age when going to college abroad. Oh what a time that was.

1. Going to Amsterdam, and seeing how unconditionally nice and supportive people can be. Even if something is obviously your fault, nobody will ever give you shit for it and will actually help you.
2. The absolutely pointless full scale war in Ukraine starting, shattering the “age of unprecedented peace” propaganda I was fed since birth. Especially once I started educating my self about all the wars that took place in this age.
3. Visiting my American (now ex) friends. Realizing that yes, Americans really are that uneducated and spiteful. Wanting others to suffer, way more than wanting to be happy them selves. And today, the 2024 election cemented those feelings.

I miss those, when I was small we had a local store that did that for all meat products. You just said X amount of bacon. Instead of buying a million separately packaged packs that barely last 1 family breakfast. Or well, going out of my way to hit up lidl, because they’re like the only ones selling bigger packs.

Now don’t get me wrong, butcher counters still exist, but they’re rare and many are expensive hipster shit.

Reminds me of the American mindset of always making something FIRST, THE BEST or THE BIGGEST! Nothing can ever just be nice or comfortable. It can never be “Know the thing next town? Yea we did that here!”, it’s always “Know the thing next town? Yea we wiped the floor with em! Come to us!”. Needless to say, my visit to the states was quite tiring after a while.

I don’t watch shit with adds lol. I just recently learned that in the US Netflix, Amazon Prime and the such offer paid subscriptions that still show adds. Like what the actual fuck? Just pirate at that point, the bad sites have an equal share of adds and the good ones have none, it’s a much better experience.

Nice! Would be funny if companies were fined by how much of their shit made it there.
