  • I know a conservative mother who started the debate with Israel, abortion, and godly values being her main concerns. Godly values was the most important to her.

Before we even got to “concepts of a plan” she actually said she isn’t sure who is the best choice for the country. We stopped giving the tv our full attention when she said it was depressing her - we ended up playing cards games the rest of the debate so I didn’t react as much. But thankfully I got to chuckle live at the concepts of a plan.

I’ve been trying to avoid saying “weird” when talking about republicans. I don’t want right leaning folk to think I’m trying to buzzword them. But it’s really hard and sometimes I do say weird (was describing JD Vance’s eyeliner) but that kinda makes it worse because I’ll catch myself saying it and backpedal immediately and change the word (the eyeliner became ‘unflattering’ instead of ‘weird’) and they notice. And it feels like I have to protect them. Like… I’m not calling them snowflakes to their faces… But I’m loudly walking the proverbial egg shells.

This is why I had to say that “Concepts of a plan” was cute instead of weird. I ended up comparing it to my mother asking if I had cleaned my room, with me responding “I’ve thought about cleaning my room.”

All that to say… It’s hard for anyone with a good heart to enjoy Trump speaking. We made comments that Harris was obviously baiting him - but does that matter when he takes the bait? The immigration stories. The hate-filled eyes.

Trump is either a mean old man who is innocent. Or he’s a terrible liar - and truly a bad person.

It was a good night. I don’t know who she will vote for. But in 2020 I DID. When Harris addressed how you don’t need to abandon your faith to know the trump ban laws are wrong, it felt like Kamala was speaking directly to people like her

  • Love Kamala. But it seems you are disappointed? If you’re more conservative, this is a critical time for Republicans. It’s time to represent real Americans again. We all win when both parties are fighting for things like housing, the economy, and social issues. America wants to move forward.

  • The CWA, which represents the striking AT&T workers, says its members are looking for a contract that delivers increased wages and benefits, including more for healthcare, and claims the company violated the National Labor Relations Act by not bargaining in good faith to come up with a contract that addresses these demands.

The Dallas-based telecom giant denies the claim.

“We’re disappointed that union leaders would call for a strike at this point in the negotiations rather than directing their energies toward constructive discussions at the bargaining table. This action needlessly jeopardizes the wages and well-being of our employees,” an AT&T spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

CWA Local 3204 in Atlanta President Ed Barlow says the lack of bargaining is the direct cause of the strike.

“If the company doesn’t want to send the right representative to the table, our members are prepared to stay out and strike as long as we have to to get the company to do the right thing at the bargaining table,” Barlow said.

“We appreciate the mediator’s efforts. Our message to AT&T is: no more excuses. It’s time to get serious about bargaining so we can get back to work serving our customers,” CWA District 3 Vice President Richard Honeycutt said in a press release.

AT&T doesn’t want to treat their workers fairly. Therefore they care less about the customer and more about profit

  • “You know, Germany, look, they put themselves into a position in Adolf Hitler’s chiefly responsible for this, but his whole regime is responsible for it, that when they went into the east in 1941, they launched a war where they were completely unprepared to deal with the millions and millions of prisoners of war, of local political prisoners, and so forth that they were going to have to handle,” Holocaust,”  asserted Cooper. “They went in with no plan for that and they just threw these people into camps. And millions of people ended up dead there.”

They just ended up dead at the local campground. It’s really sad guys. Germany was as shocked as you. It’s mostly Adolf’s fault… Germany was really overwhelmed with the campground-filling war; ignoring her horrified friends while she shoves a few annoying space-taking Jews in the special Happy Happy joy time shower.

  • The Louisiana Illuminator spoke with several doctors across the state that voiced extreme concern about how the rescheduling of misoprostol as a controlled dangerous substance will impact inpatient care at hospitals. Misoprostol is prescribed in a number of medical scenarios — it’s an essential part of reproductive health care that can be used during emergencies, as well as for miscarriage treatment, labor induction, or intrauterine device (IUD) insertion.

But because it is used for abortion, misoprostol has been targeted by conservatives in Louisiana — an unprecedented move for a medication that routinely saves lives. A controlled dangerous substance has extra barriers for access, which can delay care.

If you live in Louisiana, I would encourage you to write your officals. This was a mistake and deserves a response. I like to use Resistbot cause it’s easy and free to email through it. Really bad when politicians make uninformed changes to healthcare imho

  • The FBI has failed to report some child sexual abuse allegations to local law enforcement or social service agencies even after changes prompted by its handling of the case against former USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar, according to a Justice Department watchdog report released Thursday.

In a review brought on by the FBI’s failures to promptly investigate Nassar, the inspector general found serious problems persist that run the risk of child sexual abuse allegations falling through the cracks as overworked agents juggle dozens of cases at a time. In one case, a victim was abused for 15 months after the FBI first received a tip about a registered sex offender, the report said.

I’d love to see more money going towards fixing these agencies.
