help-circle

  • It’s somewhat like Dark Souls in that there’s appeal in mastering the enemies you fight in predicting their moves and timing your own. Finding a weapon that jives with you, buildcrafting, etc. It is a circular gameplay loop in that you kill monster, cut them up, use pieces to make gear, use gear to hunt better monsters…but that’s not a bad thing I think.

It can be a more challenging game than it might seem on its face, especially Freedom Unite, and especially with the limited control schemes of the older portable consoles. I started with 4U and find I struggle going back to it after playing World and Rise.

  • I don’t have links handy right now, but take a look at DeSantis’ Florida State Guard.

    1. Unlike the National Guard it only answers directly to the Governor of Florida and there is no precedent for the federal government to take command of it.
    2. It was publicly billed as a sort of disaster relief agency, but volunteers reported that significant amounts of training time was being dedicated to paramilitary topics like riflery and small unit tactics.
    3. There is also a small (30-50 people) QRF, SWAT-like element to this organization, and it got out that they were receiving paramilitary training from a private organization that currently employs convicted war criminal Eddie Gallagher, if you remember that fucker.

  • I know you mean well, but really you have an unorthodox opinion that the vast majority of users, civilian, professional, even at the organizational level, disagree with.

If you’re relying on a mechanical safety on the firearm itself to prevent tragedy, you’re already screwed. Kids can bypass that stuff with enough fiddling. They just make the firearm more complicated to use, which can paradoxically create more mistakes in some instances, especially under pressure. Nothing replaces responsible handling.

I predominantly shoot Beretta 92 pistols. Traditional double action, comes with a manual safety/decocker from the factory. On the one I shoot the most, I purchased a kit from Beretta that disables the safety to make it only a decocker. It doesn’t make the pistol less safe, it is a dangerous weapon either way. It just simplifies it.
