Last time I tried to get into poetry I bought a copy of The Best Poems of the English Language compiled by Harold Bloom. I’ll try reading aloud from it to my partner. If she complains, I’ll tell her a lit teacher gave me an assignment.

I’ve enjoyed some poetry, especially during several college courses I took where I had to read it. My problem, and this is going to sound really stupid, is that there’s something about rhyming and broken line formatting of a lot of poetry that puts me on edge.
It’s like a subtle feeling of nails going across a chalkboard to read line after line of rhyming verse. Lines stopping suddenly followed by hanging indents feels like being in stop and go traffic. It’s something I try and get past every few years but without success. It feels like work and not reading for pleasure. My thought was it probably has something to do with ADHD.
Maybe I should give Leaves of Grass another go.
I’ve really enjoyed recordings of his talks. Might not be what I’m looking for but thanks for reminding me about Watts. I need to revisit some of his stuff.
Yes, exactly. Nonfiction can sometimes scratch that itch for me, but it’s not exactly what I want either.
Ya not sure it’s what I need at the moment, but it looks very interesting and I’ve added it to my to read list.

American Democracy in a nutshell. You get two choices, they’re both awful…
The democratic process doesn’t start on election day.
Odd, guess theres a lot of variability to such things. I have an alpaca hoodie which is a bit scruffy but I wouldn’t describe it as sandpaper at all. My alpaca socks are some of the softest things I’ve ever touched.
Alpaca or wool socks are some of the best gifts you can get!
Fuck the fascists. We fought the British over less tyrannical shit than what Trump is promising.
He’s just following the prime directive
Spending a little extra money on a more expensive brand of something you really like can be worth it.
It’s often not worth it to do the “right thing” and save money by buyinh a generic or off-brand item you’ll end up not being happy with. Assuming you can afford the cost, the disappointment of eating off-brand cereal that tastes like paper, factory-farmed eggs, or wearing discount clothes that are cheap and look bad or have an odd fit just isn’t worth it.
Can you recommend any particular model?
What else there is will vary greatly depending on the geologic context of the hot spring. Along with water vapor there can be gasses such as carbon dioxide, hydrogen, hydrogen sulfide, helium, radium, argon, methane, and I’m sure many other things.
Best one yet
I remember similar articles when Windows 7 reached end of life. People will complain but mostly adapt to Windows 11, and Linux will gain 0.2% market share.
Wishful thinking. They will double down on their shitty actions while surrounded by more security than a monarch.

That is called a frost flower. It happens to some reedy plants during the first hard frost when the sap in the stem freezes and extrudes out in ribbons.
It has been added to my list. Thank you!
