This could be the start of a fun buddy comedy. You’d have a great pairing with the king who is well-intentioned, enthusiastic but out of touch and unfamiliar with the way normal people live and the mermaid who is a cynical jerk but secretly a softie and also unfamiliar with the way normal people live, but I suppose the fact that one of them is terrestrial but the other is aquatic could limit their ability to go on an adventure together.

Those messages do make me feel bad, but not bad enough to turn my ad blocker off.
I’m technically capable of blocking ads but that doesn’t mean that I am also morally entitled to access content provided to me on the condition that I will see the ads. I suppose the fact that these websites only ask me to disable my ad blocker rather than refusing me access entirely implies that they give consent for me to keep using the ad blocker, but would I really stop using it if they did refuse access but I could bypass that restriction?
I didn’t know that the current president of the court is Lebanese and that he was elected to that role in 2024, after the start of the most recent conflict between Hezbollah and Israel. (He was elected to the court in 2017.) I don’t think any human being could be impartial in those circumstances.
Edit: Sebutinde was elected to the court in 2011 and then elected as the vice president in 2024, but there was no vote now for her to become president. She does so by default when Salam resigns.
I think that putting in the hours to be very good at PoE2 is more embarrassing than being an amateur who only played a little bit. I say that as someone who looks forward to playing a lot.

The story about selling to Musk is coming from Bloomberg. Meanwhile the “pure fiction” quote comes from TikTok’s reply to Variety’s request for comments. Variety is unlikely to have access to anyone at TikTok senior enough to know the truth and willing to talk about it.
The purchase of valuable assets by someone in the president’s inner circle after the government forces their owner to sell them is the sort of thing that usually involves Russian oligarchs. It would be a shameful act by the US government.
Is this price gouging or is it the new, higher long-term price? Rebuilding will take years and so the housing shortage and therefore the higher prices seem like they will last.
Whatever it is called, it does seem to be illegal at the moment.

IMO the main pro of cloud storage is that the provider’s engineers are much better at doing backups than you are. You won’t lose your data if, like most people, you only have one copy of everything and your hard drive is destroyed.
The main con is that the provider can deny you access without warning. You probably won’t get an explanation or a real chance to appeal the decision.
So far that second thing hasn’t been a common problem for normal users but I would still keep local copies of the data which I can’t easily replace.
It would be very nice if being conventionally unattractive also made a person attracted to other conventionally unattractive people.
I wonder what hurts more: the unfulfilled asymmetric entitlement shown in the comic or intellectual honesty of the “I wouldn’t be attracted to me, so I shouldn’t expect most other people to be attracted to me either” sort. Probably the honesty, since many people pick experiencing the entitlement.
Don’t actually do this. You can get your license suspended (or worse) even if you never go back to the town that gave you the ticket.

The only source I can find online for the ancient Egyptian image in the upper left is this Reddit post. I don’t know how trustworthy the guy writing it is, but he apparently writes about ancient Egypt a lot. He explains what’s going on in the picture and includes some more ancient pictures of roach combat.
TLDR: Ancient Egyptians were afraid that roaches would eat their mummified bodies and therefore interfere with their afterlife.
I skimmed the Reddit terms of service and I didn’t see anything about bots or damages to Reddit, but if Reddit does ban bots like this then can’t they sue an American company whose publicly announced business model involves breaching a contract? Astral isn’t some guy without any money or a foreign organization beyond the reach of American law…
(Could Astral be criminally liable due to the extremely broad definition of hacking in US law?)

I’m a programmer and I still try to avoid appliances with a computer in them. It’s impossible to avoid every sort of computer unless you buy vintage stuff, but something like a microwave with a digital timer is still OK. However, something with wifi or a display showing more than the basic seven-symbol characters is out.
The old stuff is often not just less annoying but works better. For example, my old washer/dryer each took about 20 minutes for a standard cycle. My friend’s fancy new ones take an hour. Dishwashers have the same issue. I expect that the modern ones use less water and electricity, but I don’t think the savings would be worth the inconvenience even if they used none at all.
