The sociopaths guide to life.
The sycophants guide to corporate boot licking more like…
This feels so creepy, nobody should like me and I don’t want to trick them into it
Guide was making a lot of sense, then suddenly I fired someone??
Think of it in terms of relationships, most relationships don’t last forever, and even if a relationship broke apart due to disappointed expectations, there’s no reason to throw somebody under the bus. Respect the people even if you no longer have an active relationship with one.
IE don’t talk s*** about your ex
My ex is a domestic abuser and a pedophile
I’m sorry you went through that lived experience, but if that’s the first piece of information somebody learns about you, it’s going to put you at a disadvantage to building strong relationships.
It’s just very general, if somebody hears you being negative about somebody who was in your life, people are going to be guarded about introducing you into their lives. So it makes it harder to win friends, and influence people. Not that it can’t be done, you’re just doing it with a disadvantage
Start with praise and honest opinion.
So which is it?
Seriously though, I hate it when people throw in some praise completely unrelated to the thing we are talking about at the moment in an attempt to soften the criticism. It just seems really transparent and fake to me. Praise people for things when they are doing them, not as sugarcoating for your criticism. That just devalues the praise and your criticism. But maybe that’s just my stereotypical German directness.
Context matters and if people just throw praise around without reading the situation it won’t work anyway. Sugarcoating is still valid to make people feel good about themselves, but it should a well timed sidenote, not more
Am I the only one who finds it very weird when people add my name to sentences in a one on one conversation?
No, MareOfNights, I also find that weird.
I do that because I’m bad with names and faces and it helps me remember who people are. I still won’t recognize you, but i will remember that i talked to MoN about using names in 1:1 conversations.
