and yet, EU is preparing for the possibilty of trump win as the race is head to head and very tight. after months of clearly open racism, bigotry, hatred and fascism.
as an european, looking at millions of voters still not seeing a problem in that man, still giving his administration a vote, seems horrifying.
this is not a question of “racist joker” or demented trump, this is clearly a masks off of millions of people who cheers to this and will give it a vote.
It’s not a question of millions of Americans not seeing a problem with the racism, because they are also racists.
my parents are voting for him because he’s racist. They’re old, white, and racist too, so I guess it’s some form of tribalism. They see themselves represented by the disgusting behavior of drumpf, and wish to uplift him almost as if it venerates/excuses their own racism/sexism/xenophobia. They think “We can’t be the bad guys, look at how popular someone with the same ideas as us is!” them voting for drumpf is really them voting for the idea that they’re actually good people, despite everything their children/peers/idols are telling them.
The best description of American politics I ever read was from, of all places, a Tom Clancy Novel. He basically said 40 percent of Americans would vote Democrat Even if Adolph Hitler was the nominee and 40 Percent would Vote Republican even if Lenin was the nominee. There’s that 20% who actually thinks about who’s running and vote accordingly.
I would strongly argue that both parties have been so out of touch with the common man that both parties are fairly unpalatable to alot of them.
Oh look, a hitler rally in 2024.
“They love making babies”? White conservative Americans actually do have that culture.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quiverfull
Quiverfull is a Christian theological position that sees large families as a blessing from God.
I have a white GOP cousin who came from a family with 5 kids, and she has 7 kids of her own. I have a white conservative ex girlfriend who has 6 kids.
It’s bad when brown people do it.
Jesus that’s gross. I’ve said this before and I know my non American point of view is irrelevant but I cannot fathom how Trump is even a serious candidate in a western democracy.
Even if he loses in 8 days, America is pretty far gone that it could’ve let somebody like him get as far as he has.
I think it’s pretty simple.
We want to think we’re not assholes, as a country, but we are. The more important thing though is that we’re mostly economically poor assholes, and we got poorer under Biden these last four years, so people care less about what a huge asshole and fascist Trump is as he’s the candidate of change.
Or the fact that Biden’s leadership ensured we became less poor over the past four years than the rest of the world. The GOP is also gaslighting that it’s all because of immigration. They also have no understanding that tariffs and mass deportations like Trump is suggesting would absolutely crater the economy. No sense of neuance for at least 40% of Americans whatsoever. Everything is about “fuck you I got mine”.
I think if any of the voters here in America could think of the larger implications of their vote, they’d never vote Democrat or Republican.
He’s pulling the “people have no sense of humor” shit. See though, when you make race jokes it’s up to the race you’re talking about to decide if you’re being offensive or funny. And we agree he’s being racist to us. When a conservative comedian who hates brown people makes these “jokes”, we know they’re not really jokes
“These people have no sense of humor.
“These people”
The uber I took home on Saturday had a right-wing radio show playing, and it was the same deal.
Saying horrible things under the guise of “humor” but blurring the line just enough that the audience might think it’s real.
As an aspiring comedian, I never liked hinchcliff. His “Kill Tony” podcast and format has always been ridiculously racist/sexist. He’s a “shock comedian” just like Anthony Jeselnik. They say the most upsetting, shitty things, and because it’s so awkward and shitty, it makes people laugh. This is because after saying something horrible, the audience is forced to make a decision. Either the comedian is a terrible person with terrible opinions, OR the comedian is playing a character who happens to be a terrible person (think It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia).
The problem with this approach, is that it’s only funny if the comedian is an otherwise good person. However, with a lot of these “shock comedians,” you can tell that they’re not playing a character, they’re just shitty people. hinchcliff is one of those people.
I never noticed it was the same guy.
Guess I’m not watching that anymore. I only watched the Dr Phil skit, that was somewhat funny, but that’s it.
I don’t care for hinchcliff, but he is no fool and he is a sharp comedian. These were low level hack purposefully racist jokes. Most don’t know that he wrote for the WWE, he knows this audience extremely well. I honestly think he’s playing both sides here. If Trump loses he will have helped by making maga look bad and racist etc as is currently happening and he’ll come out with a revelation that it was all an act. And he will have been paid to do it. If Trump wins he gets to be king racist comic and continues his colbert-esque act for them. His humor is specifically edgy and racial but far more clever than what he did for this rally. That’s my theory anyway.
Puerto Rico is an American territory. The self-own is palpable
They don’t know or understand that.
It’s actually pretty normal to talk shit about various states and cities. Sometimes for no reason at all.
If he had made that same joke about Hawaii I’d probably laugh. It’s context of racism that makes it awful.
Yeah, it was really great that the US destroyed the Kingdom of Hawai’i. Nice.
I’m familiar with the history of Hawaii and how we subjugated the island. I’m familiar with how we forced the queen into resignation to further business interests.
But let’s not bullshit each other here. If someone says “I hate Hawaii” they aren’t making a statement of colonialism. They just don’t like Hawaii.
Right or wrong, Hawaii isn’t a homogeneous population in so much much that saying “I hate Hawaii” can be assumed to be a commentary on a specific peoples.
That second one can’t be a real quote 😐
Here’s a video of it
Holy shit
What a genuine cunt. Even in a trump audience it seems barely anyone finds him funny
I didn’t have much respect for Tony before, but whooo that set was straight up dog shit.
Michael Richards set was better. You know the one.
This is stupid, the only winning move is to ignore this dumb shit and just vote for progressive politicians who actually care about their constituents
Wat
Edit: Oh he’s a comedian. Clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sjLNxnKKxY
He even started (2:29) by saying “Where are my Latinos tonight?”, heard the cheer, and then made a joke about how many there were because the border was open. So yea, take this meme with a grain of salt.
At Trump’s rally in Madison Square Garden
EDIT: Him claiming to be “joking” is just an excuse and does not make it any less racist
Sorry for dropping the edit in there after you responding -
EDIT: Him claiming to be “joking” does not make it any less racist
True, and he does seem like a MAGA cultist, but if you’re going to quote what someone says during comedy not say it was for comedy, it gives the wrong impression
Edited the title of the original post
Yeah, but the “joke” is just racist stereotypes.
