We have already seen everything we need to see in the last 8 years. No way I am watching whatever it is they think it will be. I am sure I will see all the horrific details here in a few hours anyway.

What’s the drinking game? A shot every time trump says shark; two shots if Biden tells him to shut up; three if he actually shuts his disgusting mouth for once?

Shark, windmill, mentions a a water saving plumbing feature, runs over time, interrupts Biden. Extra shot if Biden makes a Don Quixote joke.

I’m a very engaged voter, and I’m pretty sure I won’t be watching this debate. I know more than I need to about both candidates, so the only reason I’d watch is for entertainment value and to see who fucks up the most. That’s not a valuable use of my time, nor is it a good reason for having a debate.

I don’t have much sympathy for undecided voters at this point. If you plan to vote for Trump, for any reason, then I don’t respect you. This debate won’t change that.

There is no live audience for the debate and microphones will be muted when it isn’t the candidate’s turn to speak. Candidates will have 2 minutes to respond to questions and 1 minute for rebuttals. There will be no opening statements but there will be 2 minute closing statements. Moderators will ensure courteous discussion and fact-checking.

Nothing they say will swing me either way. Waste of time watching it. Even if they debated in my own home, I would just ask them both kindly to leave the property, and wonder who let them into my house to begin with.

Anyone giving odds on Trump stroking out when he realizes his microphone has been cut after a couple minutes of rambling?

Are they even going to cut mics? There’s got to be high odds betting they won’t.

        Muted microphones, no notes

Both Biden and Trump will stand at identical lecterns, with their positions on stage determined by a coin toss administered by CNN. Microphones will be muted throughout the proceedings except when it is the candidate’s turn to speak, a measure aimed at curtailing interruptions that have marred previous debates. CNN has said that moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash “will use all tools at their disposal to enforce timing and ensure a civilized discussion.”

Each candidate will be provided with a pen, notepad, and a bottle of water on stage; however, no props or written notes will be allowed.

Trump. No teleprompter. No rambling. They’re gonna cut his mic.

          He’s gonna have an aneurysm.

Why? When he can win with arguments like “She’s so nasty” and “Just words, those are just words”
Debating Hillary, Trump was most of the time completely unable to construct a reasonable come back. He will just throw everybody off with something completely idiotic.

It is rather like trying to play chess with a pigeon — it knocks the pieces over, craps on the board, and flies back to its flock to claim victory.

I’m not even sure what a winning strategy against that looks like, when about half the voters think that’s just fine.

Wouldn’t it be crazy if they both passed out and weren’t viable to run further? I wonder who would take up the mantle in that context

It’s crazy that anyone believes they’re going to glean anything from this. What question do people think is going to get resolved here? Is there anyone who seriously doesn’t already have their mind made up about both of these guys?

Trump is going to do his vague, rambling spiel about how immigrants are rapists and gish gallop around the stage while Biden is going to get all misty-eyed about how much pork barrel spending he managed to pass over his term and give a bunch of empty euphemisms about “coming together” or w/e. Maybe say something racist about Palestine.

What are people hoping to get out of this? Honest question.

We’re all desperately hoping that upon seeing Trump in a real life situation instead of a fucking game show, his cult will wake up.

You know that all the trumpets will see the next day is a compilation cut on Fox of everytime Biden stutters or says “uh.” Trump could admit he went to Epstein Island to have sex with underage girls and none of his cult will see it, or say CNN deepfaked the statement.

Because a ton of people haven’t been following this stuff and need to be reminded of who Trump is and what policies he represents.

Ok, but for real, do you genuinely believe there’s anyone out there who forgot what Trump is about? He was in power for 4 years and he’s been in the news every day since he left office.

I just don’t get why people believe there’s this elusive “undecided” vote that will be flipped if Trump just says one more crazy racist statement or something.

There are a lot of people who don’t consume any news whatsoever. They’re too busy trying to survive to remember shit from 4 years ago and just want their lives improved. If you aren’t following this stuff day to day it’s easy to forget just how cartoonishly insane that fucker is.

I just don’t get why people believe there’s this elusive “undecided” vote that will be flipped if Trump just says one more crazy racist statement or something.

I think there is a small segment of voters that could be swayed by reminding them just how chaotic Trump was/is. We’re playing with margins of 10s of thousands of votes in a couple states so every little bit is going to matter.

My aunt made a point of tuning into these sort of things when she was with my Trump voting grandmother. Listening and watching what a train wreck he is without the right-wing media filter I think was what ended up turning her into a Biden voter in 2020. I don’t know if my aunt would have gotten through to her if she didn’t have the debates and pressers to work with.
