  • Basically, “furries” are animal people like in Disney’s Robin Hood and Zootopia, and the fans of those creatures. There’s some sfw art at !furry@yiffit.net if you want to see. Humans in media are boring. :P

Personally, I’ve seen it to be a very open, accepting and welcoming community. So I guess I romanticise being with a group of like minded people, which is something I’ve felt lacking in my life.

… Annoyingly, due to its history as an lgbt-friendly splinter group, it’s who a lot of the bigots started targeting when it became socially unacceptable to be honophobic online. Grumble grumble.

  • Proton isn’t designed to be a security layer and afaik doesn’t go out of its way to sandbox applications. I’d expect a lot of viruses will fail to do anything, but there’ll also be some able to do things like steal your browser or discord passwords.

There’s no reason to risk it; don’t run anything in Proton that you don’t feel safe running on Windows.

  • All lgbt flags are terrible because they don’t follow the rules of tincture. /s

But seriously though, I think the trans flag is good. It has a nice amount of contrast and the colours compliment each other well. Other flags seem to have the problem of not enough contrast (like the bi flag) are too noisy (the main rainbow one) or the colours don’t mesh well together (polyamorous). All my personal subjective opinion though!

Although it could just be because I’ve seen the trans flag a lot more than the others (which is fair; trans rights are super important right now).

  • Yeah, this is super annoying. I want to try out roleplaying and get into character and all that, but in some tables you have people like the following:

    • The involved roleplayer who, despite their intent otherwise, takes control of the narrative. They try to involve you, but it always feels like you’re a side character in their story.
    • The funny guy, who tries to crack jokes and make the whole game feel light-hearted and silly. I get we’re all here for fun, but sometimes I’d like a bit of meat to bite into.
    • The GM’s friend, who derails the game into taking about that cool dog that they had when they flat shared last year. No seriously, it’s a cool dog. Let me find a picture on my phone.
    • That guy whose character is a reference to that show you don’t watch. They keep making references to it, and a few other people get it, but you have to awkwardly nod your head.

… Wow, sorry, kind of went on a rant there. I guess I have a bit of frustration at going to play a game, and most of the session being taken up by not playing said game.
