This is positive news, otters are great. Beavers are making a come back too, and storks, all over the world, nature conservation has it successes. It’s challenging though, as friends and family highlight these gains under the heading “it ain’t all that bad”, without understanding that the drop in numbers of insects (by 98% in 50 years in some regions) or the halfing of bird populations across entire continents is creating havoc with local ecosystems - of which we humans are part. These are important, yet minor conversation successes that alas can’t gloss over the Big Issue.
