You can normally browse lemmy.world instances though, not sure how well you can interact with their users or post.

Edit tip: If you’re new, make 2-3 accounts in instances that match your different interests. If you use a lemmy client app on your phone, you can switch accounts between different instances easily.

Yeah, lemmy.ml blocks most porn/nsfw/r34 instances. I personally like it that way.

I mainly sort posts by “all” and simply blocking NSFW tags hides some posts that aren’t full-blown porn but just involve mature topics. So it’s better than using an instance that doesn’t defederate and turning off NSFW posts, at least for me.

mander.xyz is pretty open to most instances afaik, check it out if interested.

Even if it’s nearly impossible to reach the light at the end of the tunnel, we can still find salvation and meaning in our lives by hoping we’ll reach it someday.

I had both installed and was using them side-by-side. links2 was easier to learn and configure so I chose it over w3m, then uninstalled w3m.

Also edit: terminal browsers(at least links2) are surprisingly good if you just want read Wikipedia, browse memes, use search engines, and other static stuff once you get the hang of it.

If it can play video at a reasonable quality, hook it up to a TV, fill it with torrented movies you want to watch and you’ll have your own home entertainment system.

That’s one idea. If it can’t play high quality videos there are still a lot more uses for it.

Firefox’s default in-built download manager is hot garbage. It is so much more reliable to download multiple large files at once with a resource-friendly download manager.

I did perform the self-test function, the long version that says it will take 10s of minutes. Some of the errors were displayed with red text before the test. After the self test, it said that my drive passed and all the red errors showed up as “Old age” in black text, every single one.

(This is in the GUI app for smartctl)

I used the GUI program for SMART and the list of issues got marked as “old age”, all of them.

It’s the same error, no matter how many times I reinstall. I assume it’s a hardware issue

(In Windows) If you uninstall a program using the “uninstall.exe” provided, you can tick an option to wipe all the data.

This is also available from the Control Panel’s “Uninstall programs” page. The “uninstall” button usually launches the “uninstall.exe” provided by the app’s devs.

I’m in one of those places where people barely make a living even after pretty much working to death. I am still a student and I have been lucky enough to be born into a more fortunate family. I don’t have firsthand experience, so I will give an example.

A good example is my teachers. They have a 6 to 5 job 6 days of the week, and their monthly salary is equivalent to 865USD.

The fact that I can use the internet and tech as much as I want is a blessing
