  • Similarly “Clapton’s” I shot the sheriff was originally a Bob Marley song

In fact, being the racist twat he is, Clapton changed a lyric from “I didn’t shoot no deputy” to “I didn’t shoot the deputy”. While only slightly different Clapton’s version implies that those roles are held by two people whereas Marley’s implies it’s the same person. That’s because Marley’s was a protest song saying that the police in his community were sent by colonizers and had no interest in protecting their community. Thus his claim that he did shoot a sheriff (a position he has no respect for) but he did not shoot a deputy (someone the community authorizes to enforce their own rules). That distinction was kind of the entire point of the song and Clapton changed it, presumably due to the aforementioned fact that he is a racist twat

  • Club House Games is an easy recommendation. 51 games that are classics around the world. You probably know how to play the majority of them already. Likewise a Nintendo switch online subscription is the price of a game for a year and comes with N64, GBA, GBC, SNES, NES, and Dreamcast games. Pokémon stadium 1/2, Ecco the dolphin, Kirby super-star saga, Kirby dream course are all good

  • Calling electric cars part of a hype cycle feels a little disingenuous to me. Either we get rid of cars, society ends, or all cars go electric. Considering that option 1 causes option 2 unless there’s a revolutionary tech breakthrough, I think it’s safe to assume electric cars are the future. Also I don’t forsee a peak in hype for them, there’s generally a lot of resistance to electric cars

Aside from the random dig at electric cars, I largely agree with this article. I don’t think the chicken coop machine learning example is quite clear to non-technical people, but I think it’s probably appropriate for the lemmy userbase
