There are so many options. If you’re looking for a free and open source wiki-style setup, a couple I haven’t seen mentioned in the thread yet are Zim Desktop Wiki and Feather wiki (hmm looks like their web certificate is expired at the moment)

Yep, the only time I buy eggs is if I’m going to be baking things that require them, which I don’t do very often. I just get the 6-pack, then any remaining after baking usually sit forgotten in the fridge for weeks and then I’m not sure if they’re still edible so they go to waste. 🤷

Why is everyone so obsessed with eggs? Do people really eat them that often and if so, is it some kind of addiction like coffee or what? Stop paying those prices, stop buying the damn eggs.

A couple tweaks: Include Illinois and the eastern part of Pennsylvania. (edit: I see you did get Chicago, maybe just go a bit further south?).

Back when they were first able to federate (if you can even call their one-way dissemination of propaganda into the fediverse “federating”), my Mastodon instance didn’t block them so I moved to another instance that blocked them from the get-go. I wanted an instance-level block to keep their shit off the server completely, not just an individual-level “block” which is more like ignoring than blocking.

I’ve been able to reproduce some, like the “how to carry <insert anything here> across a river” one where it always turns it into the fox, goose and grain puzzle.
But generally on anything that’s gone viral, by the time you try to reproduce it someone has already gone in and hard-coded a fix to prevent it from giving the same stupid answer going forward.

Once trump cuts off all government funding from the blue states as he keeps threatening to do, maybe they could join Canada as provinces. It should be win-win considering the blue states contribute more to the federal govt. than they receive from it; while red states receive more than they contribute. So they would make Canada stronger and Trumpistan weaker. Trump wants to expand US lands to impress his idol putin and be like him, but instead he would lose territory.

I had called fake because that account doesn’t even exist, but according to that article (thanks for the link), the entire account was deleted as well.

Fake, but funny.
That’s why I try to be there for my son.
Then why are you sitting in a bar drinking?
(edit: wondering who is actually taking this seriously enough to downvote a joke about a joke? maybe I hit a nerve with the deadbeat dads?)

Hm, I’m kind of in between. I do this fairly often, not wanting to go out right when someone else is there. But I don’t know why, since as far as I can tell it doesn’t make me feel anxious to run into someone like in the cartoon.
It doesn’t bother me at all to cross paths with someone and I’m fine with saying Hi or just nodding to acknowledge their presence. Rarely does anyone actually try to start a conversation or anything. If they do say anything it’s probably just a one-liner and move on. And it’s easy to tell if someone doesn’t want to nod or say Hi as you pass because they stare at the ground the whole time, and I’m fine with that too, but I don’t do that.
But now I’m wondering, so why do I tend to wait until they’re gone? Is it really social anxiety? I don’t think so? I’m a loner but I have no problem or anxiety talking to people either. 🤔

In the first term I thought well at least he doesn’t want to start wars or invade someone like the previous R’s who always had to do it to look macho and increase their popularity (which worked).
But now that it’s no holds barred, Mangolini is not hiding how much he wants to be like his hero Putin. So on top of all the other dictator stuff he wants to acquire more territory and/or invade somewhere. Greenland hasn’t worked out so far, so he’s looking around and sees Panama, thinking yeah that would be easy. I’m expecting him to do something somewhere this term, for sure.

Should their couple name be Trusk or Mump?

I can’t even figure out what you’re trying to say here.

They did vote for it and they are going to get what they voted for, good and hard.

OK, I just didn’t take it as being an argument that smartphones were bad or that they haven’t helped anyone. I took it as OP saying that having one hasn’t benefited them personally, which I can understand and relate to, and is why I was defending that opinion (I explained my view about them in an earlier post in the thread). Anyway, no point in continuing since we just have different interpretations of what they were saying. Thanks for being polite about it and giving me a better idea of what some responders were upset about.

OK, you thought their opinions were antagonistic and we may have different definitions of antagonistic. But read the thread. There are a lot of aggressively antagonistic posts telling OP they’re full of shit, lying, a troll, etc. Apparently they just couldn’t believe someone didn’t think their smartphone has made their life better, and attacked. Maybe I missed something, I didn’t see any posts from OP calling anyone names, accusing anyone of lying, or telling anyone they’re full of shit.
I’ve just watched the first third of this (original source linked by squirrel) video.
tl;dw This is a great idea: Cory Doctorow explains how
all the countries the US trades with were forced, in their trade agreements with the US under threat of losing the US market, to pass their own digital copyright anti-circumvention laws so that US big tech companies can seek rent and collect the personal data of citizens of those countries with impunity, and
Now that trump has imposed all these tariffs on them and violated the agreements anyway, there is no longer any reason for them to to keep those laws on the books, laws which only hurt their own people and help US tech companies. He explains retaliatory tariffs only hurt their own people, that the best response is for other countries to stop protecting US oligarch and repeal those laws, which will help their own entrepreneurs and citizens, and withhold billions in rent to the US oligarchs.
And that’s just the first third of the video, but I stopped to post this before watching the rest. edit update: yeah the whole video is worth watching.
