  • My dog is always sweet but not always chill. We were about to take a ferry from Vancouver Island back to Washington so I gave her a chill pill before we left the house. She hates them so I normally just use the. on the fourth of July and new Year’s Eve due to all the fireworks in my neighborhood. Ferry seemed like a high stress environment as well.

We stopped at a breakfast joint with outdoor seating and she hopped up next to me on the picnic table bench and was just so chill. So many people came up and pet her praising her calmness. I didn’t have the heart to tell them she was just high as a kite. I think all the affection made up for her not liking the chill pills.

  • Volumio - Multiroom audio service. You install the os on a pi and hook up some speakers. The basic streamer is free for local files on a single device at a time. I paid $200 for a lifetime pass a few years ago. That gets you multiroom synced audio like Sonos and lets you add in streaming services.

Qobuz - Music streaming service. Much higher quality than Spotify, no shitty MQA like Tidal. They will have articles diving into a genre, band or record label with links to notable albums. It’s “station” playlists and similar artist recommendations are garbage but I’m more of an album person.

  • Worst was this girl making an uncomfortable amount of eye contact the whole time. It was like she was trying to start her way into my soul. I’d make eye contact to talk but kept having to look away because she was just too intense. I would not be surprised if she was some sort of succubus or siren trying to drain my life force.

After about an hour she asks if I have autism… I went to the bathroom and called one of my friends to vent. When I returned she asked if there was going to be a second date… There was not.

  • I still have the guide that came with Earthbound. I read that thing through so many times as a kid. I think my parents bought it new on clearance because it didn’t sell and I was having a rough year.

Still remember the night I got it. It was a nice summer night, there was a block party on our street. My parents wanted to stay later than usual but let me go home to play. The adults were only one house over, but it felt like growing up getting to be home alone.

That opening sequence felt like it could have been my life in a different reality. It took a few years for me to finally beat it , but it felt like growing up with the characters in a way.

I feel the guidebook had a lot to do with my memories. It was so cool how it was presented as newspapers from towns along the way and it being a tangible object added to the immersion. Seriously a great gaming experience I can’t ever replicate.

  • IDK. When I pick up a new hobby I try and go mid tier. I’m not going to buy the 1000 dollar gear but also not the 50 dollar gear.

Though I did go and buy a way too expensive camera a few years ago. But it was more a return to a hobby than a new one. Don’t regret the purchase, don’t plan on upgrading any time soon.
