First and foremost, I think you should let it go and calm down. I know from personal experience, arguing with strangers on the internet can be exhausting and it can rile you up. It’s not worth it.

And I’ve noticed an increase in inciteful troll posts on Lemmy in the past few days. The goal of those is to destroy the community by sowing division and hatred and these posts seem to come from both sides of the political spectrum. It doesn’t really matter what political flavor the content seems to be because the purpose is simply to break things. Those are troll posts and the content is designed to provoke anger and hatred. We should be careful not to fall into this trap, as an international community.

I remember last time Trump was in office. There were massive tariffs on european products as well. There are no communist countries in the European Union. Trump and his gang openly push the “America first” narrative and that very obviously means that every other country in the global market is under attack, even those who were traditionally viewed as allies. Communism is not the issue here.

We’ll see if the US manages to bully the world into submission but I have my doubts. A free global market is bound by capitalist mechanics. If the US is not an attractive trade partner the export profits will be made elsewhere.

You’ll be surprised how expensive everything is to build if you pay domestic wages instead of buying things dirt cheap from other countries where wages are low due to slave-like working conditions. This is probably what Trump wants to establish in the US, but when other factors like housing, food etc are already way more expensive than they are in those countries, this creates a poverty hellscape for y’all. The result will be that people can’t even afford to live at the standard of a chinese factory worker. Enjoy.

Not even the most right wing extremists in Germany have “an appetite for genocide in Gaza”. They have their own political agenda, which is to blame protesting local immigrants for antisemitic actions, in order to further their anti immigrant agenda. Their intentions have absolutely nothing to do with Gaza.

Secondly, the mentioned resolution (as bad as it is particularly because of the unhelpful definition of antisemitism in there) is nothing more than the german guilt reflex, triggered by recent events. It’s not even legally binding.

There is no support for the Gaza genocide among the people at all. Quite the contrary, accepting an obligation to protect Jews (which is good and necessary due to our history) and at the same time watching Israel’s fascist government committing war crimes in Gaza and Lebanon puts most of us in an extremely uncomfortable position.

I too find it appalling how the Israeli government can play Europe like a fiddle, and what happened in Amsterdam recently is a good example of Israeli influenc. But most of what this article states is simply untrue. The authors mental gymnastics kind of want to accomplish something along the lines of “all Germans are Nazis because they killed Jews and they are also Nazis because they support Jews now”.
