Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•It's my 54th BD, left a $83K IT job last summer, interviewing at Lowe's tomorrow. Is it weird I'm looking forward to it?
10·1 year agoThe best job to have is the one that you don’t need. I was fortunate enough to retire early from a high stress job. I didn’t hate the job. I just had enough. After 3 months I was bored. Got myself a part time job. And as was mentioned in an earlier comment, if the place burns down I couldn’t care less. I’m always on time, never sick, and good at my mickey mouse part time job because it’s a joke compared to the real job I had. It is fascinating to observe my fellow workers who are all very nice people because for them THIS is their career and for me it’s just a throw away to get out of the house.

the posted picture is to remind you not to take it so seriously. Life is all bullshit. You are here for a short time. You die and you are dead. Spend your time enjoying it by living in the moment and stop fearing the future

11·1 year agoI understand it with teenage boys, but I have always been fascinated with guys being so obsessed over how big their cock is. Seems to be common knowledge that women don’t really care because it feels no different to them. You will rarely hear a women talk about one that was so big that it hit their cervix.

31·1 year agoJust want to ad that brigading is common at reddit. Again as a mod, I saw the “reports” and I believe that once a post or comment reached a certain level of reports then the Admins stepped in and at least removed the post or at worst banned the poster.

31·1 year agoRather than “echo chamber” I prefer the phrase “hive mind”. If you go to r/conservative or r/politics you should be smart enough to know that you are not going to have any meaningful discussion. The people of those groups are in a hive mind. I’m not saying that they are bad people, just that they want to be surrounded by people that only think as they do. Most social media platforms lean heavily to the right or left. And that’s fine. But just admit it and don’t jerk me off telling me that you are a free speech neutral platform.

31·1 year agoYou are seeing it like me. Not going to do a “new” work around account. I want my account unbanned. I really would like to know what you did to gain 2 successful reinstatements.

21·1 year agoEveryone understands hate speech. “All Whites are bad” and other nonsense like that when you condemn a whole group of people. In my opinion the phrase “hate speech” has a new meaning and used when someone cannot have a civil debate explaining their position and how it differs from your opinion. I like reading all opinions. But I know if someone screams “hate speech” when it obviously is not is just that they have no rational counter argument.

21·1 year agoInteresting speculation regarding what happened at X and now Meta. Platforms that allow free speech. Not hate speech but multiple viewpoints. I never see Lemmy banning people for simply expressing a minority opinion but reddit continues to do it. If they ever change they will surely be at the end of the line of change.

21·1 year agoBowtie for any duck. But not for humans.

History because history always repeats itself. Human nature never changes so throughout time you will see both the good and bad repeated over and over again. If you think the reality of today is special or new you just haven’t studied history. Bet you don’t know that almost every new advance in technology was initially bashed as “that will never be popular” until it became the standard
