It will never be eco-friendly to drive 6000lbs of steel down a road to move one person and we should stop supporting the idea that it is possible because it is delaying the real impactful changes we could make

We could just change our culture and start making trucks work horses again instead of status symbols. Having every truck go electric helps a bit on emissions, but they are still dangerous to anyone outside of them, use massive tires, need massive parking spots, and continue car dependancy.
Couldn’t he have just used them whenever he wanted anyway? Who in his country would stop him? I could see his generals advising against it but at the same time, they know they could be killed for the wrong opinions.
I hate that it is a massive pick up truck being advertised as the EV of the future. What happened to small, light, effecient cars? Sure some people need trucks and they might as well be electric in the future but it seems practical options for effecient electric vehicles get very little production and promotion.
“We had to leave the city to get away”
I think its just best that we don’t force people who don’t want or can’t handle the responsibility of rasing a child into raising a child. People generally are not good at things they don’t want to do and being a parent is a pretty important job that often lasts for life.
Republicans all care about life and babies until it comes time to give time off to raise the kids, provide welfare programs for poor families, provide schools with lunches. Can’t kill a fetus in the womb but they dont give a fuck if the child starves at 5.
Learning what an angel investor is hasn’t really changed my opinion on this guy. My opinion of him as an angel may have changed if the post were closer to “go home at noon today, we’ve got enough done and you deserve a break.” Instead his attitude is "stay later, work harder, and get that sweet sweet return of investment.
Imagine being so full of yourself you call yourself a “business angel”
Its about long term effort investment. The game really gets fun as you start making lots of profits, upgrading tools, and automating the farm, although it can be tiring. There is also probably over 1000 ways to play. Some focus on mining, some more on social, some rarely leave the farm.
I can usually play it for about and in game year then have to put it down. Then I have a hard time picking it back up cause im worried ill mess up my planting plans even though my character is already fairly rich.
When I call the cops to report dangerous driving, half the time the dispatch doesn’t even seem to care, “oh only going 30 over? Is that about the flow of traffic? Well it isn’t illegal to pass on the double yellow even if it was kind of tight. If you’re backing up traffic by doing the limit you could probably speed up a bit to make it safer”.
Sounds like a broken system where workers are being exploited. The operating costs of everything should be pirced into the food. Customer’s shouldn’t be expected to subsidize wages.
So are they going to condemn the church as well?
I could see the blackrock angle as trying to appease the working class. Like “see we hate big wealth too” but then never actually do anything to hurt blackrock.
The boy scouts one is especially baffling. A lot of boys become more traditionally “manly” through boy scouts. It is physically active and they typically learn skills like camping, fire starting, wood working. We were also expected to do good deeds, be polite, and overall be decent members of society that help where is needed, such as litter clean ups and tree plantings. I guess the latter half of my point is where their issues start?
In this case wouldn’t the cooks time and skills be more important? Almost anyone can carry a plate but it takes a more diverse set of skills to cook various meals in timely manner while trying to prepare another 10 orders as well.
Not to say the server isn’t important as well but tbh, I’d rather have shitty service and great tasting food than have amazing service and terrible food. Ideally great food and great service, that will defintely get me back.
Soon, many of us won’t be able to afford to drive at all, it would be nice if we had other options
Bus lanes are too easy for the next politician to remove bus priority and allow cars back into the lane. At least with rails it’s a lot more costly to remove the route. Busses also still contribute to microplastics and tire waste compared to railed trams. Trams are also easier to automate which can make employing drivers and adding trams to lines less difficult compared to buses. The rails are also more effecient as there is less friction.
I’d defintely take BRT over no transit but many cities are dense enough to justify electrified trams.
Many cities paved over their tram lines. Sometimes they poke through during road work. We had trams in nearly every city 100 years ago yet today people tell me we can’t afford it or our population is too small to support it. If we could do it 100 years ago we could certainly do it now.
Before the pandemic 10 over the limit was normalized in my area, now it seems 20 over is acceptable, even in school zones. It genuinely feels unsafe when I do the limit on some roads because of the agressive passes and tailgating. We’ve got some speed cameras but they are only effective near the camera, you can literally see the wave of traffic speed up once past it.
What bothers me most is it used to be usual suspects speeding like this, the fancier cars, lifted trucks, and modified shitboxs. Now everyone drives fast and speeds inlcuding the minivans and soccer mom SUVs. It really highlights how ignoring speeding for so long has made a hive mentality of its okay to speed now because everyone does it.
