I would have failed every design class I took in college if I submitted that. Why such wide kerning? Why lower case but upper G? Why so round? Why so completely unreadable at a distance because of micro serifs? There isn’t one good design element in this.
I don’t get it. They don’t even use money. How did they pay for those wigs?
I had this happen to me once when I was trapped in a whale. Sat down to play hand of poker. Next thing you know 40 years had passed by.
Take a bunch of sheltered early 20th century peasants and tell them they are the best soldiers in the world. Send them off to war with instructions to kill one of two groups of people that look the same, sound the same, dress the same and carry the same weapons. They were never meant to survive.
I keep refreshing my pod feed waiting for the next episode.
Each day on Lemmy I scroll and scroll and then I reach a headline where after reading it I have to parse what it says. And then I realize it’s gibberish. And then I realize it’s the bottom of the feed and what I’m reading has a negative score.
Today this was that post.

Please, let’s not do this. Lets just enjoy sites that aren’t toxic without making them toxic by written articles with headlines like this.
I’ve seen the effect. It’s just like after Brazil cut Twitter off. My very niche account has been gaining new followers by the hour.
I have no idea how people interested in Heathcliff are being found by new people. Much less people interested in Heathcliff without Heathcliff.
These people aren’t looking for fare. They are looking for excuses to always paint every choice as failure.
This is dumb, petty and counterproductive.
But a lot of conservatives were complaining that Harris had to know that Biden wasn’t capable of the job and she should have activated the 25th amendment. But she didn’t do that and when he did step aside to let her be the candidate these same people that were all about her kicking him out of office were now saying that this was a bloodless coup even though she was only running for pres instead of actually being president. Basically they were irked because she didn’t do what they wanted and would have been upset if she did what they wanted. Damned if she did and damned if she didn’t.
So if he steps down and she becomes president they get to be unhappy about it and claim the high ground both ways.
Really wish we had adults running things instead of transparently partisan idiots who don’t hold any consistent core belief system.

My local theater: Ticket window opens 10 minutes before the start time. Cash only. No reserved seating. No commercials. It’s a blank screen until the trailers start.
We get two new first run movies a week to choose from.
I think the regular ticket price is $7. We always go during matinee so it’s only $5.
Going to my local theater is like walking into the past where everything except the movie showing is a throwback to the 80s.
Don’t assume all theaters have reserved seating or any other modem thing.
The “a” is the worst part for me. You can’t see those little stubbs at a distance. So it reads JoGuor at a distance. They didn’t just fail to create a good logo, they failed to preserve the name. One bit of advice I always give is “imagine this logo on the back of a golf card or a Pride brochure. If the logo isn’t crisp and readable in black and white in a 1/2 inch square then it sucks.” This design fails that test. Not just because of the messed up “a” but the wide spacing makes those unreadable "a"s even smaller than if the letters weren’t so widely spaced.
