I sub to channels and use Youtubes recommendations and new for you to find additional channels etc but I don’t watch them I use Metube and a browser plugin and download the videos to a directory. I don’t get all the privacy but I also am not giving them much watch data and I can avoid the ads.

Such significant commitments on a national level with international treaties should I think be carried by more than a simple majority. Its not a simple choice and without decent will behind it there is every chance it doesn’t last or causes enormous strife within the populace. But the vote is advisory and fundamentally will probably be based on the majority regardless so its now up to government to decide if its enough to move forward.

Most of those limits have already been broken through and there is no political will to do anything but stamp on the accelerator and take humanity off the cliff at top speed.

In a recent video Lance Hendricks showed that the filter paper touching the side of the brewer is what draws water out of the brewing process to bypass going directly through the bed. So the immersion of an Aeropress is not using this mechanism at all since the entire water is being pushed through the bed of coffee and immersed whereas a hario switch some of the water is still bypassing the bed directly.

How much this matters is less the shorter the period of time before the water is pulled around and outside. But it also means there isn’t really just one immersion or v60 like brewer because it depends on so many factors to determine bypass and extraction. The angle of the brewer, the contact of the paper, the technique in agitation it all impacts how gets extracted. Still as a basic idea these v60 like devices that can be closed do provide almost the same thing up to the point when you open them up at which point they will behave like a v60 and there isn’t anything you can do about that. How much that matters is hard to really know they taste pretty similar to me but Lance’s video is worth a watch because it does at least show there is a difference and that will have some impact.

Looks lovely. If it drives as well as Assetto Corsa and adds some of the modern physics features (which looks like with the puddles and night time) and it doesn’t loose any features it will be pretty popular. I am still hoping they will expand the features a bit especially on multiplayer game play and scheduled ranked servers.

Universities have been running Linux since the very early versions. Slackware was pretty common back in the 90s and 2000s and universities had labs full of them not least because there weren’t really laptops so they had to have enough machines for all the students. Universities have been heavily involved in the development of unix from its inception and a lot of the tools were initially written by university professors.

• Demand 1 they only just won when the UK government changed to Labour who have committed the first item, so all their previous actions were with the goal of not expanding yet further the use of fossil fuels.
• Demand 2 is to phase the use of fossil fuels out by 2030. The UK has a net zero goal of 2035 so this would bring that goal earlier but many other countries have a 2030 target in the EU.
• Demand 3 is all about trying to get a world wide treaty signed to stop the use of oil to try and meet the Paris agreement to keep within 1.5C.

There is no immediate demand to stop or anything so extreme, they are largely what the UK has already agreed to do but is failing to achieve.

Peaceful protests have not worked, disruptive protests have been widely villified and the protestors jailed for very long sentences. If you are facing 2-3 years for holding up a banner or throwing some paint seems like criminal damage of a fossil fuel facility isn’t likely to net more years. As many have said in the past governments ignore peaceful protests at their peril, because once its clear that doesn’t work they become not peaceful.

The recent study where they intentional infected a bunch of paid volunteers and tracked what happened over the next year is really concerning. All of them have lasting brain damage and none of them can tell this occurred. The Long Covid studies are struggling to find healthy controls because there are a lot of people now walking around with the metabolic and vascular problems that are found in Long Covid but appear asymptomatic. This virus is doing a lot of damage and everyone is one infection away from their life being destroyed by Long Covid.

Bare in mind it’s one in 400k such studies showing the damage of Covid it’s no outlier it’s just really dumb.

Having now flooded the internet with bad AI content not surprisingly its now eating itself. Numerous projects that aren’t AI are suffering too as the quality of text reduces.

It’s inevitable it’s coming, there is zero question about the acts committed it’s just got to go through the process.

We knew this was coming, we knew if we didn’t stop pumping CO2 into our atmosphere we would have to mitigate a lot of the damage at much greater cost and yet here we having increased the rate at which we increase CO2 into the atmosphere to now a whopping 3.3 ppm annually and we have spent nothing on mitigation. Honestly it feels like our governments just chose we were all going to die and were fine with it.

I thought the first movie was better. Inside Out 2 was fine and enjoyed it but it felt a bit more painful comedy wise than the first one and the story was less compelling.

I noticed today searching that the date search no longer seems to work right. There are some terms that only appeared since 2020 and up until my recent attempts those terms produced no results on DDG when date constrained but now produce terms in articles clearly after that date. I don’t know if this is some personalisation nonsense or always pulling but results if the constraints don’t match or what but its seriously problematic and means I can’t trust the date constraints anymore.

A bunch of research into Covid and how it propagates in the air has found that higher CO2 concentrations allow viruses to survive longer. This is a part of why we are seeing increased risk of infections.
