According to a search warrant, Campbell River RCMP raided this property on the We Wai Kai First Nation in February as part of a drug-trafficking investigation. Police claim they seized 3,500 safe-supply hydromorphone pills, as well as fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine.

I don’t understand the economics of this. For someone with addiction to harder drugs, I can see why they would trade what they get from safe supply for the harder stuff.

But what’s in it for the trafficker? Who’s buying those pills? Who are these people that want safe supply drugs instead of the harder ones? If such people exist, why aren’t they getting their supply from the program? Is it a matter of dosing, i.e. the safe supply is not offering a sufficient dose for these people?
