A 54-year-old man arrested on child rape and sexual assault charges on Tuesday was an educator at a Worcester high school, Worcester Public Schools confirmed Wednesday afternoon.

South High Community School educator Shawn Baillargeon, 54, was charged with aggravated child rape, child rape and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 on Monday, Rutland police said previously. Little information has been released about the allegations against him, but court documents indicate that the alleged assaults happened sometime between 2016 and 17, and police said that more than one complaint was made against Baillargeon.
