The 31-year-old British musician was a vocalist for the U.K. pop band, along with Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. The band is on hiatus.
Liam Payne, a member of the British pop band One Direction, died Wednesday at age 31 after he fell from the third floor of a hotel in Argentina, local authorities said.
Sistema de Atencion Medica de Emergencia, the emergency health service, said in a statement to Telemundo, NBC News’ Spanish-language sister network, that Payne fell from the balcony in Palermo.
Police “were directed to the hotel by a 911 call reporting an aggressive man,” said the emergency services agency. It did not say whether drugs or alcohol were involved, just that the 911 call reported that could be the case.
Oh man, that’s terrible. I hope his band mates and his family are ok.
Had to scroll down much too far to find this simple human sentiment. I guess we can take solace in the fact that he lived a lot in his 31 years? Still. Too young.
Went into rehab last year, my guess is a relapse. Bad for everyone involved.
His Ex also recently issued a cease and desist with some evidence of abuse.

The Payne is real
I first thought he might have criticized Putin but this just seems like a really tragic accident for real.
All untimely deaths are sad and a loss of potential. I’ve never heard of this guy but I do know the band was famous for a while. Going on Spotify I didn’t recognize any of the songs though. Either way, balconies are dangerous. If you are young and/or prone to shenanigans or leaning over railings please stay towards the bottom of the building. Don’t let the good times get out of hand!
