      Having lived in both - often having a half pint of 4%. lager is enough to prevent people from driving, in the US having two pints of 7.5% IPA and smoking weed wouldn’t been seen as unusual before a 30 min drive home.

        Eh, in my state, the legal limit is low enough (0.05% BAC) that you could be over the limit with that lager. In every other state you can have two regular drinks and be under the limit (0.08% BAC), though many states have a zero tolerance (0% BAC) if you’re under 21.

        Oh, and if you’re a POC, the BAC limit is cut in half.

      It definitely is. Public transportation is basically never an option and Ubers are expensive so most Americans don’t even think about those options. Then there are other problems like Americans not forcing their friends to stay the night when drunk, not having dependable social circles, and a lot of rural folk thinking that no one will be on the roads anyways. It’s a mess is what it is, haven’t even been able to stop family from doing it.
