VIDEO: Two people were hospitalized, including one in critical condition, after energized copper injured them at a Mesa building Tuesday.

The Mesa Fire and Medical Department said a crew was removing copper from a building near Tahoe Avenue and Avery Street, just west of Mesa Gateway Airport, when two people were injured by copper “that apparently was still energized.”

Details of the injuries were not provided, but fire officials said one person is in critical condition.

The fire department was conducting training at the same building at the time of the incident, but no fire personnel were involved, officials said. This case is still under investigation.
