The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

  • I’m a veteran. I grew up Gen-X during a time of high jingoism, with a lot of military folks in my family. It was a time and a setting where “American Exceptionalism” was uncritically accepted. If you had told me thirty years ago that one day I’d be rooting for a foreign nation standing up to the US, and saying things like, “Nothing off the table” regarding their defiance, I’d have laughed in your face at what a fucking credulous fool you must have felt me to be.

    And yet, here we are.

  • Personally I don’t care if a CEO voted a different way to me, or even if a whole board did. This should not have any bearing on Proton’s product or what makes it better than others.

I won’t have a friend who supports Trump, because to do so is to support a regressive, bigoted, jackbooted view of the world and how things should be done. I don’t speak to my Trump supporting family members except when family situations force us to.

WHY ON EARTH would I trust my privacy to a company whose entire board supports that view, much less their CEO?

  • I just can’t care anymore.

It’s actually proven now, it doesn’t matter.

No matter how many stories are run about the awful things he does and the good things he doesn’t do, the people who voted for him will love him just the same.

No matter what he does, no matter how awful, nothing the media prints matters, and our institutions will do nothing to stop him.

We now just have to hope that he and his supporters don’t decide we are done with elections in four years. We exist at their whim.

Edit: And might I add - the “opposition party” just ran an election centered around courting voters from Trump’s party instead of their own, and shows no signs of learning from it. (again) We are well and truly fucked.
