Want to be a misogynist? Go to Hexbear! Just make sure you’re talking to a pup-girl first so you have plausible deniability and can complain that you aren’t being interpreted charitably enough for your blatant misogyny.

Science@lemmy.ml•Scientists race to study the Amazon’s frogs before they disappear
0·9 days agoAzambuja tested the isolated effects of warming and exposure to the insecticide methomyl — an extremely toxic substance used in crops, with high water solubility — on tadpoles from two species
On the one hand, yes testing is how scientists prove the harmfulness, but did we really need to test that to figure it out?

Science@lemmy.ml•Scientists race to study the Amazon’s frogs before they disappear
0·9 days agoA search by Mongabay found 9,062 scientific articles on Amazonian amphibians published in the last 10 years
Be glad (or better yet, sad) they didn’t give me links or y’all would have nonstop frog posts for the next 20 days or so.

0·9 days agoI was able to xpost via Hexbear throughout, and could then see my posts from/to hexbear to xpost elsewhere. I didn’t check whether federation was working or not from anywhere else.
Both have had some blips recently that I’ve hit, but I was noticing more issues with Hexbear downtime than Lemmygrad.

0·9 days agoYeah, I did a shit job of documenting this properly and should have taken better screenshots+updated the main post when I realized how useless all the ones I took were, especially before/when pinging, but there was a legit federation issue there for a while and it still existed when I made that comment, but does seem to have resolved since.
Sorry, I’ll do a better job in the future. Thanks for that link, it should be helpful.

0·10 days agoHey @nutomic@lemmy.ml, as the admin-who-is-also-a-mod-here-and-a-dev-too, you have been “randomly” selected to be informed that federation sucks and I hate it.
Based on prior experiences elsewhere, I think this is on ml to fix.
I’ll try to pay closer attention if/when (unless you fix/get someone else to fix it first) it happens again, but I think my most recent post might have federated finally when I xposted it from/to Hexbear, because I’m 99% sure I checked right before then and it hadn’t, and all of yogthos’ posts I’ve checked still haven’t federated yet.

0·12 days agoSorry, my screenshots don’t actually show that I got to the ml science comm from the grad xpost because I wasn’t paying enough attention to what I was screenshotting where. I should have showed the xpost link or the local science comm viewed from grad. Regardless, it’s still how things look at the moment (no upvote here because I eventually got around to that locally where it will definitely federate and am not trying to double vote on anything):

Science@lemmy.ml•Climate goals: China leverages space tech for carbon monitoring
0·12 days agoChina placed its inaugural global CO2 monitoring satellite, TanSat, into a sun-synchronous orbit in 2016, paving the way for research into the global carbon cycle. Following this milestone, Chinese research teams have utilized the satellite’s data to foster scientific partnerships, including a notable collaboration with a team from Finland.
The least the author could have done was link to some other article about what the notable collaboration was.
Actually, I guess the least was to state it without a link

It’s part of a massive trade that includes more than 3,700 butterfly species the world over, mostly coming from the Global South. They’re bought primarily by consumers in the U.S. and Europe
