  • Hi. Working tradesman. I still voted blue even when the 4 years under trump were mostly better for me than under Biden. Of course most likely coasting off of Obama’s era. But I got no relief under Biden. I pay $20k a year for my Healthcare and still have to pay thousands a year out of pocket for visits. My family in Ukraine is still unsure what’s going to happen in the next year. Many of brothers in my local are unemployed now during the hardest time to pay to live. We hear the record profits the corporations made and swindled the working class dry so we can eat yet there has been no relief. How did making 6 figures for a family of 5 turn into almost living pay check to pay check.

I’m ok with sacrifice if it means others get the help they need. But I don’t think anyone got the help they needed. We sacrificed for no benifit to anyone but the elite, and we are continuing to be ignored.

This is what Sanders is talking about. And I’m afraid of what Trump is going to do for many Americans. For my Ukrainian family back home. For my neighbor who is Taiwanese. But recently I’m more worried to keep food on the table for my kids. I don’t even care who won anymore. I have election and political fatigue. I did what was asked. I keep doing what everyone thinks is right. But I’m burning out.

  • You are an amazing man helping your wife through a big transition. But the dialogue has to be there to discuss balancing work, family, and personal lives. From what you described you’re basically doing everything for the family. Once the dust settles in her change there will have to be adjustments to responsibilities.

I’m a father of 3, and I am the only income in my family. My wife stays at home as the home maker, she knows her duties. I know mine. And if they change we are both doing it together. Things are getting expensive here, so financial decisions are made by us both. Not just me. Even though I make the money. And family decisions are made by us. Even though she’s spending the majority of the time raising the kids. It’s a team effort. A family effort. If she’s stepping away from being part of the family that both of you helped create then there needs to be communications on the next steps. Whether you do it together, or a 3rd party via therapy.

It seems you’re highly supportive but your side isn’t being heard.

  • They definitely can. It’s been off putting lately that the left has a check list that I have to hit every mark on to not be seen as a right winger.

There are leftist who are Christian. There are leftists who are against abortion, but understand that education and reproductive health (including allowing abortions) is an important and productive way to reduce abortions, instead of bans. There are leftists who are still traditional, holding morals and ethics that aren’t fluid but also not rigid.

No one is truly happy about their political choices. Except for the insane 1/3 of Americans on the Maga train maybe.

Thank you for the replies. I appreciate it a lot. You got me thinking hard on coffee now. I’m not sure why I used two filters. Maybe to stop it from flowing over the edges of the drip machine. But now that I think of it, why not use a pour over method? I looked up that hand grinder and see the pour over equipment bought frequently with it.

I might have to try that with the water. But my water is very palatable. I live near Seattle, and my water dispenser is filtered through an insinkerator dispenser, which also does my boiling water.
