Same. Lost a very good friend because I was too slow to change, lost my family because I did.
Because being poor, uneducated, and unloved with a chip on your shoulder makes you a likely Republican voter. I would bet the whole farm that unwanted children are far more likely to grow up to vote Republican, and I think that’s one of the primary reasons they fight against abortion, and any other policies that increase education and security for children.
I still don’t understand how we got here. My mom is a Botanist by education, with a graduate degree from a respected university. She lives in a small community right in the center or some of the most extreme wildfire risk in the country.
She brought up one day that if only her Governor would make sure the forests were raked up, the wildfires wouldn’t be a problem.
It’s so baffling.
“There’s illegal immigrants in prison taking post-birth contraception!”
Camping, traveling, hiking and going places that are enjoyable and accessible with my wife and dogs.
Gardening / homesteading in such a way to live as self-sufficiently as possible.
My way I want to give back in retirement is working as a volunteer urban/wildland canine search and rescue team.
I train my dogs in scent/detection sports and tracking now so I’m prepared to understand how to do the real deal once I have time to volunteer in retirement. My current job is in a related field, so I already have many of the other skills and certifications that would be needed, but I don’t work with dogs for my job.
If I need extra income in retirement, I’ll probably get into offering dog training for detection/tracking.
This article is from January and a quick search didn’t yield anything newer.

The Cybertruck isn’t instead on the “2024 American Made index,” so we probably can only go on whatever Tesla is claiming at the moment, though it does seem likely that it will be at or near the top of the ranking for most American trucks of next year’s list.
Yeah sure, there definitely has been a history of bias in favor of British drivers and teams by Sky - no question. But they’ve also damn near revered Max as god since his first race in F1, so I don’t totally buy his logic there.
Moreover, I think Newey is discounting the fact that people just have a strong tendency to root for the underdog or root for the fall of the king. Vettel was despised during his reign, as was Hamilton, and now largely the same with Max.
I mean, he paid with his life. And he suffered longer too.
As the saying goes, “the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference.”
Elon/Tesla designed this truck to be controversial, to generate discussion, and engagement. The best way to disengage from exactly what this thing was designed to do is not to meme about it, it’s to ignore it completely.
Point to me on this doll where the Cybertruck touched you.
Ugh, we’re still at this? Folks that claim to have their eyes melt out of their face every time they see a Cybertruck sure spend a lot of time posting pictures of them online.
I see about 100 of these hurr-durr cybertruk dum posts for every one I see out on the road. Funny that 99% of the Cybertruck I see is coming from the “haters”.
There’s a lot of exciting changes happening and coming in the next few years that seem to have potential to keep the sport interesting / unpredictable.
The way this season started, I never would have expected to get to this point in the season with 7 different race winners, a team threatening to take the lead in the WCC from Red Bull, and at least one driver with a reasonable shot at taking down Max Verstappen.
Hopefully the next few years can be at least as interesting.
Feels like a bunch of manufactured drama over this. It was a clean pass, and Norris was never able to even put a serious challenge to Leclerc, let alone Piastri afterward. McLaren has been open at saying their drivers have been allowed to race. Sure, from a team perspective it’s a bit unfortunate that Piastri’s move caused Norris to back off enough that he allowed Leclerc through, but since there were no team orders otherwise, Piastri did exactly what he’s supposed to do.
Huh, interesting. I guess this makes sense - to not take up a massive volume, breathing oxygen would need to be stored in liquid form, which means it would need to be kept exceptionally cold or under huge pressures (or both), and would inevitably boil off and need regular servicing. A chemical reaction seems to be a far lower maintenance (and thus likely much cheaper) option for devices that will hopefully never even need to be used during the service life of an aircraft.
Traditionally, the incumbent has a huge advantage. I don’t believe that the party of any sitting president that was primaried ever won the election. There are only a few cases of a sitting president that was eligible for another term stepping aside, and those were a very long time ago.
There was very little precedent for what Biden did, and I think very few could have predicted the enthusiasm for Harris - I remember her last campaign. It wasn’t inspiring.
I think Biden felt like the safest choice to many, though obviously that’s been proven incorrect. Hopefully the Democratic party will take a lesson from this and be more willing to replace an incumbent in the future if there’s a better option.
I see Vance more as the guy that’s chair of the HOA board, and drives around the neighborhood six times a day looking for any minor infraction to write up, but only for the residents he has beef with - looking the other way when one of his “friends” is in violation of the CC&Rs. So he’s the guy that puts a lien on your house while you’re in the hospital.
If it’s an OEM part that I need, I usually use the car manufacturer’s parts catalog to find a part number. Then I enter that part number in a web browser, and browse through whatever comes up to find the lowest price from a trustworthy source (usually a car dealer online somewhere that sells/ships parts and has an online store, but sometimes eBay, Amazon, etc.)
Aftermarket parts get a little more complicated because it depends entirely on what kind of part you’re looking for.
