I think they only ate grain but - that would be pretty terrifying if they were!
It appears they did eat Kirk’s chicken sandwich, and there looks to be a cannibal tribble in Star Trek Online. Better keep an eye on them to be safe.

I spent a bit of time looking at that thing. First I thought it was a heat lamp, and I do see a few LED pendants in that design, but in the one pic it looks to go to the ceiling, and I also saw a chimney design in that shape. With as out of focus as it seems to be, I feel it’s further in the background and bigger than it looks, so I’m thinking chimney at this point.
