Threat to what? Is an anime streaming site going to commit a 9/11?
Sites like these MADE the anime industry outside Japan because Japanese corporations absolutely suck at advertising and distributing their products till this very day. Almost no one would care about anime if it was up to anime industry executives and they should be glad to make some merch sales from people watching fansubs. And yeah yeah it’s a little more complicated but the main issue is how stupidly IP is handled in Japan, especially in regards to anime.
The list is compiled by the MPA, a group that represents studios, etc. They work with our government, and to which degree I have no concrete idea, (edit: a trade association is supposed to work with governments on behalf of it’s members) but they merely submitted this list to our government. That’s according to the article and the torrent freak source.
I think the article wasn’t being clear and other comments seem to agree.
Is there a way to save that site?
The site itself is under threat of being taken down? Is that what’s going on? I don’t think it’s up to us personally to do anything. Seems like people have already mirrored it (seeing as according to your article it has a successor), and those mirrors are also listed as threats. Not gonna lie this is and always has been a game of whack a mole. There will be more successors and more lists etc because that’s just how these things work.
